Voice of reason as always.
Lees did ok today and there a talent in Crawley somewhere. Pope is being groomed and will be persevered with.
Would love to see Brook and a proper spinner who knows his craft.
Who to eventually replace Broad and Jimmy ?
I’ve long thought that the quality of batting isn’t that bad, as long as the media and supporters give players time. The quality of bowling is maybe not quite as good, however, with recurring injuries to the genuine quicks a particular concern.
As you rightly say, the greatest challenge will be finding two bowlers who can assume the mantles of Anderson and Broad, yet that task is made even more difficult by dint of the fact that they now have 34 years of Test match experience between them. Nobody ‘upstairs’ would have countenanced the idea of Foden supplanting David Silva when he burst into the first team, yet the same patience and logical progression is absent from the English set up, which, I fear, means years of awkward cameos lie ahead.
