Just wondering...

Does anyone else still enjoy the cricket via Radio 4 Longwave in the garden with a nice cup of tea or a cold beer?

For me, those things combined is summertime in a nutshell.

I seem to have read somewhere recently that Longwave is being closed down because of budget cuts. Incorrect?
Edit: the Beeb on Longwave, I mean of course.

For years and years I listened to the old World Service on Shortwave, starting in Africa in ’75. Still a bit nostalgic about the way it would fade in and out as James Alexander Gordon read the results. Sometimes I felt like picking up the radio and smashing it — it would happen just as it came to the City result. It seemed as though the ionosphere was in cahoots with the Beeb to deprive me of my fix.

Na I ditched it, the shipping forecast at 12 ruined TMS
