4 day tests will be the future
Nope nor should it be, 4 days cricket would mean we wouldn't get to witness the classic we did in the last game and test match would end up as a draw despite baz ball at its ridiculous best. First test between Australia vs Windies was also decided on the fifth day, so it would mean too many drawn games imo

The up and downs of Bazz Ball cricket, some you win, some you lose, the form book goes out of the window,
I don't think England will keep up this way of playing for much longer because we will get found out by everybody.
you have to have a surprise element to the way you play ? also, if you are 2.0 up in the ashes, you have to protect your lead, and stink the place out if it means getting a draw in the next couple of test.

yes, it's good to watch when you're winning, but what are the percentage if you lose after the other team find you out or take the carrot and gamble and win, you need to have full to control of the game and take away the losing part first.

in the last test, we lost control of the result by giving them a golden chance to win, teams will notice that and take it on because most teams now bat all the way down to number 11.

At least this theory should see a one complete cycle of test championship to see where it stands, overall it has been a success so far, what matters eventually is whether it's good enough to see England the test championship or not

We have played differently in each test though. It's not been as much of a slog as we've seen in this series. Against India, NZ and South Africa we had moments of playing traditional cricket. It was in the chase that we just backed ourselves and played it like a one day game. We were in trouble at times but got out of it. The batting in the first test was insane, such a quick scoring first innings and we only won as a result of it. In this test we've seen the other side. But I don't think batting slowly would have seen us score 350-400, we'd have just soaked up balls before being out. The side seems to perform better generally when being aggressive. Too many poor shots today, but you can't really balance that. You either attack or you don't.

There have been stages of nearly every test match where we've criticised the approach but it's won through in the end. Let's see what happens before we criticise too much.

Shame a lot got out to rash shots.
Should have batted properly.Still get a couple early in the morning and its a 1 innings game.

You have to forget this “should of batted properly” we ain’t going to bat the norm anymore under this captain and manager and why I don’t mention it anymore! This is how we play now!

if we win then it's fine, all rosy in the garden, the moment we lose then we criticize.
I don't think that will ever change in any sport, even in test cricket,

we need to see a future and plan an idea to get behind and believe in long term, for far too long the ECB have let test cricket to fight on its own, all we wanted was a future and plans in place, I can go back to the ashes down under in 2017 when Geoffrey Boycott called it right when saying where is the planning, Jimmy Anderson stood there taking the blame instead of Joe Root the captain, Jimmy even said it may be the last time a play down under in the ashes ? that was the stand-out call for me, The ECB was not interested in Test Cricket how could they when jimmy toured again 4 years later,

If this is the plan by the ECB to push test cricket forward towards the ashes, then I feel it's more a gamble than a plan
