I know there's a world cup thread knocking about somewhere but I can't be arsed digging for it.

Glenn Maxwell is a ridiculous cricketer. Facing 90mph plus bouncers he walks outside leg and plays a bizarre cross between a cut and a pull for 4 through point.

How the fuck can you bowl to that? Also played a scoop shot for 6. When he's in form he's incredible to watch.

ridiculous shot - I think it was down to shitting it as he was nearly done the over before. But if you watch his eyes after the shot he was actually trying to pull it to leg - he is very unpredictable though

So, semi-finals all sorted now, gone with form; Aus v India & NZ v SA. Absolute carnage in Wellington this morning. NZ 393/6, Windies all out 250 off 30! Guptill 237 not out, 24 fours and 11 sixes. NZ scored 153 off the last 10 overs. Was starting to feel sorry for the Windies, despite wanting NZ to win. Whoever is in the final, it should be a cracker.

You know what I'm gonna say it - having ridiculously huge scores is boring. You might as well just set up a bowling machine and have each team just twat the ball as hard as they can for 50 overs and whoever has the most runs wins. I find cricket exciting when theres something in it for both the batsman and the bowler but one day cricket and T20 is so ridiculously tilted in favour of the batsman I don't know why the bowlers even bother showing up.

Boult took 4 for 44. If you're good enough, like him and Starc and Steyn and a few others, then you'll get rewards. Not surprising that the teams with the best bowling attacks are in the last 4; Boult, Southee, Vettori, Starc, Johnson, Steyn, Morkel, Yadav, Ashwin et al.
Agree that the game is biased too much in favour of the batsmen though. The fielding restrictions, 2 balls etc, needs to be looked at. Still would have been the same 4 teams though. Best batsmen, best bowlers. They can't help it if the other teams are crap!

Moores and Whitaker to follow, hopefully. Bring in Kirsten or Moody, otherwise we will be playing catch up for ever.

Lots of much better options being branded about for ECB roles... Strauss, Vaughan, Stewart... I met Vaughan before the T20 finals at Edgbaston last year and he's certainly not shy of an opinion or two but he's been generally spot on. Him and Strauss have spent enough time around cricket in the latest era to know the game has moved on and whilst I don't think we're a million miles away in test cricket, the ODI and T20 format needs work. We've seen class cricketers get big scores and then destructive batsmen bolster them. Cook can still be effective in ODI format, he was just shy of confidence with the bat. He gets that back he can be captain in both.. don't think we need a complete overhaul - just need to give the likes of Roy and big hitters a chance and sort out how we play the game.

The Pietersen argument for me waits until we see his stats with Surrey this summer. Until then there's no point worrying about it.

I hope its Vaughan, not only was he the best England captain of modern times, but Strauss and Stewart, cant get more establishment than an ex England but also ex Middlesex and Surrey captains, the ECB needs a proper shake up, enough of this jobs for the boys culture. Strauss would be the perfect cure for the KP debate, considering how highly he thinks of him, how was it he described him when he thought the microphone was off? "A complete ****".

We need some outside thinking so I hope an overseas coach is brought in for Moores as well.

Some players are at best in the big games . KP is one of them. I don't think his stats at Surrey should matter that much though poor ones would allow the ECB to save face. If KP gets picked again, whatever the circumstances, i am certain he will not be the worst performer. I would not back against him being the best.

Anyway it's cricket season time,England about to start v West Indies, maybe a start to winning ways again.......................................................for the WI lol

Tredwell ahead of Rashid just sums up English cricket at the moment. An aging, never any better than second rate, off spinner who literally can't get a game for his second division county is picked ahead of a promising, genuine all rounder who is capable of ripping though a side and can get more spin on his googly and off spinner than Tredwell ever has been able to and they're his fucking variations. All because Rashid might go for a few runs, so fucking what! You've got 4 seamers, if he's expensive pull him off and put him back on later. Any pretense that England wanted to play attacking cricket has been shown up as bollocks.

Added to that they've decimated the Yorkshire side so they can carry fucking drinks in the Caribbean, they'll spend 5 weeks doing fuck all come back out of form and that will be used as justification for their non selection. An absolute fucking farce. No reason to take a squad that big during the county season, it's not a long flight, if you get injuries, call someone up.

Added to that our best number 3 for years has just got out opening whilst a batsmen with 1400 first class runs opening last season fetches drinks. Brilliant.
