Great performance yesterday
I must admit i thought the match would end up drawn yesterday morning
Pakistans batting at times looked kamikaze tp say the least
So off to the oval where a draw will do but am confident we can win and end the trsts ona high
If we do it might shut Boycotts moaning up
Bloody hell on tms yesterday he wouldn't stop at the start of their innings criticizing cook
Give me bumble anyday!

SKY are no better to be honest. That's twice Cook has made decisions that the media don't like but twice he's won, so tough shit. England had no right to win that game at tea on the third day so to win it so comfortably a couple of days later was an incredible result.

Cook was right to bat on yesterday, and the 20 off the first over helped his case. What the commentators didn't mention was that England were in the midst of a piss easy 450 odd for 5 on the same wicket, so getting 300 in a day wasn't beyond comprehension. It was reverse swing that won the day, if not for that it would have been very difficult.

its not like that this year its about the whole series and its on a points base at the moment its 8.4 to england with the 1 day 50 overs games and 20/20 still count

the game has change but the pundits have not

any score is possible with 90 overs in the day so england and cook did the right thing and just took 5 overs out of the game just to see the wicket and the weather and knowing they would still have 2 new balls ok the 2nd would be only for 4 overs but england had 3 sessions to have a right go. the only thing was why we bowled to the last 2 like we did and try and bounce them out when it was swinging but england won so job done

I don't see why Moeen has to bat so low down when Ballance & Vince are doing fuck all.

I think something like:

Cook(c), Hales/Robson, Root, Borthwick, Ali, Bairstow(wk), Stokes, Woakes, Rashid/Ansari, Broad, Anderson, if everyone's fit for India.

Means 4 seam options, 3* spin options, and a substantial amount of batting.

I've said the same thing. Moeen could easily slot in at 5, Woakes is a very good no.8 and perhaps even better and Rashid would be a good no.9. Getting Rashid into this team these past couple of games would in no way have weakened the team.

I just turned the TV on when England took the first wicket, which was debatable, and I cannot for the life of me fathom why Pakistan decided to bat? It's greener than PLLK's cock after a ginge binge.

Absolutely no need for that.

Great start by England, Wood and Woakes taking it to them, 2 of my current favourite cricketers.

We've talked enough about Woakes this summer - and he continues to get better and better. But what a player Wood is, and what a great return he's made. He offers what Finn does but he's actually quicker more consistently and gets the ball to rise from a good length despite not being that tall. For all of England's options nowadays, they have to find a way to get him in the test team.

Lancashire outplayed again......serious candidates for relegation from Div One of Championship.

There's just no strength in depth at all. Week after week average players are getting in the side because there's no one better to replace them. The set up is good, some youngsters are coming through and they have a very good coach but next season they need one or two more real quality players.

Fully fit Wood would be in the test team, however due to all the fitness issues he's had (prior to getting in the England side as well as since hes been in) they are rightly taking things slowly with him. The fact he is centrally contracted despite the injury says what the management team think of him. With Stokes, Woakes and Root one of the shoe ins for all 3 formats going forward.

Yep and with Woakes and Wood you can start to see Broad and especially Anderson becoming less and less significant. You might be right about this India tour being a bit of a statement for the future with one of those two not playing all the games.

Wood (as shown in UAE) can get reverse, with his pace is more effective than his team mates when the pitch offers nothing for seamers, so could do a job in India. Selection is going to be interesting.
