Look I know for some reason you have an irrational hatred of root but we didn’t lose this series because of his captaincy. We lost because the rest can’t bat and if you want to now take away the captaincy from our best player (who has gone up a level batting since he has become captain) then you are deluded.

With the capacity in test match grounds we will sell out to most teams for test match cricket! Think in 20 years time that might change when the younger cricket fans grow up only liking the 20/20 1 day cricket

yes it is

root is the problem and the captain's role in the team is the most important. he picks the fields and bowlers and ask's them to bowl to his field settings then shows fight and leads from the front
 
I'll be honest. I was slightly worried that England were going to win this.
Because a 3-1 series result would have looked almost respectable, in a completely false sort of way. And cracks would have been papered over.
Having been completely and utterly annihilated, there can be no excuses, no papering over cracks. There has to be a total rethink, from top to bottom. Starting with the ECB.

Or.

Or England settles for being a one-day team, and that's it. At which point I for one will take no further interest in their fortunes.

Ok mate. You just can’t see past your hatred of root (Which is so bizarre as he is the most inoffensive player I can think of).

We could have had mark waugh as captain BUT WE CANT BAT. That is why we lost.

We scored no runs.

The bowlers had nothing to defend and Root couldn’t utilise offensive fields.

You can’t name anyone to replace him as captain.

You can’t name 5 new batsmen to score some runs for us.

Therefore you want Root out to actually make the team worse!

root is a good cricketer i never questioned that ? but the role of captain is more than runs in the team
your part of the selection team with the coach and you have the final say in who is playing ?

but the biggest thing for me is root as captain is lack of knowledge and sometimes just school stuff would and hands on knees just letting the game past him by. even in this test we had them down and should have had them out for under 200 in the first innings but again poor selection and field settings.

yes root shown his weakness again and it can not keep happening without punishment and standing down
 
If Root just says I don’t want to be captain anymore who will the ecb pick? Stokes be top of the list just because he is vice, it’s hard because of the performances of the whole team to pick one! Why they won’t give it to an Anderson or a Broad I don’t know well at least short term! Am sick of the ecb giving the captaincy to the best batsman to. The ecb are stuck in the 1920’s

Stokes has already said he doesn’t want it. He won’t want to give up white ball cricket either, Personally if root doesn’t want it I’d give it to broad but I think root will continue until at least the next ashes series purely because as you say there is no other clear option

What would help root is a coach who can help root set better fields almost mentor him. We can’t afford to lose roots runs

this is not just about the ashes its been pretty bad for the last 16 months and root will just keep plodding on as captain without any pressure because of the runs ? well 10 innings he scored a average of 30 runs that's not good enough. so his place should be in question in the team for that alone
 
So the player of the series is travis head averages 13 for sussex in county cricket last year. Says it all about the state of the pitches in this country, good pitches produce good batsman and bowlers

So now your saying our leading run scorer in the series and also 3rd highest in the whole series should lose his place. You are completely deluded and can’t see past your hatred of root.
