I don't mind the Kiwi commentators. Definitely a lot easier on the ear than the often hyperactive Aussies.

I think his role for the time being is just to stop the rot and steady the ship. Root is classy enough to make a major dent in this total so he can be trusted to do this mostly on his own.

If required Stokes will step up to play some shots.

But then also be able to score with such power in T20. I remember him scoring a 100+ in the IPL on the way to making a 200+ chase look like an absolute doddle.

I can only think of Kallis to rival him to be honest in terms of everything i.e batting, bowling, fielding, big match performances, leadership etc.

Kallis has the stats advantage but he didn't win any World Cup's, fielding isn't as good and I don't think he really featured much as a captain?

Hard to compare the old guard like Sobers because he never played the range of Cricket that the modern players do.
