not sure about the number 3 spot, don't think Compton is up to much but would like to see Buttler back in the side at some point so maybe push Vince up to accommodate him, need entertainers in that side.

I've said on here I want to see Buttler in the side again but that was before I heard him speak about his difficulties with the mental side of International cricket. That will set alarm bells ringing with the England selectors and management and if the time comes for him again then he'll have to prove to them that he can handle that side of things. Incidentally, oe of the reasons why I always backed Bairstow was because he looked so natural and like he belonged on the big stage.

yeah, Bairstow has the keeper's spot sewn up at the moment, looks like he's really matured.

Just can't understand this night watchman lark. If Ali is confident enough to go into bat, he shouldn't bother at all.
We'll be 110-5 after about 3 balls tomorrow. Just throwing a wicket away. Hope i'm proved wrong, but haven't seen
a night watchman for England succeed, yet.

Fabulous finish. Plunkett twatting a six off the last ball to tie the ODI. Sri Lanka fucked that one up though. England were 82-6 at one stage. Even down to the second last ball, where England scrambled a third run when there should really only have been two runs up for grabs.

Brilliant day at the cricket yesterday. I had given up on anything but an embarrassing collapse and nothing but the prospect of an evening in the bars of West Bridgeford to look forward to but Woakes and Buttler were brilliant. I should have remembered that Plunkett had proved he could bat the week before against Lancs and had more faith in him!
Expecting much better next time out.

We do need to bat a lot better, the bowling was ok kept them under 300, Rashid bowled beautifully and we need to be a bit sharper in the field.

Hales and Root are fixtures in the one day batting, Buttler is needed as he is a genuine match winner from almost any position. This leaves Roy (T20 yes ODIs not so sure), Bairstow (proved himself in test hopefully he can transfer that) and Morgan (teams are always more settled when the captain scores) who are under pressure for runs in the one day format and I would say arent sure of their place.

So happy for Woakes, a lad I have always thought was an excellent cricketer, struggled on his first look in the team, has gone away and worked on his bowling, added a yard of pace and is now the fastest of the England bowlers and his batting keeps getting better and better. When Stokes comes back, I would say Woakes has done enough to stay in the team at the expense of Finn in the test side and I would drop one of the 3 batsman listed above to have an extra bowler in white ball cricket, we bat deep as it is with Stokes, Woakes and Ali, with the last 3 all being able to bat a bit as well.

Couldn't comment on the top order yesterday, missed the first 3 wickets due to cheese and biscuits...

But yes, liking Bairstow and Woakes.
