Due to the first test finishing early a two day/night game with the pink ball in Canberra VS an Australian 11 has been arranged. NO batters are going. Just 3 bowlers and Jacob Bethall from the test team. The rest is made up of The Lions team.

Absolutely fucking bizarre no batters would go to get some practice with the pink ball in.

Smacks of arrogance

There’s a whole host of all rounders with similar stats to him. Even in this county with flintoff and Botham. He’s just one of the pack but I’d rather have any of the following over him.

Kallis
Pollock
Sobers
Shakib Al Hasan
Jadeja
Imran Khan
Jayasuriya
Hadlee
Chris Gayle

Hadlee wasn't a great batsman, but was a brilliant bowler.

I'd also add Kapil Dev in there.

Utterly ridiculous.

Instead they want to spend time together rebuilding morale and confidence.

I’d have thought the best way to do that is to improve their fucking technique.

Bonkers.

Stokes has been a pretty useless batsmen for the last couple of years but I'd be tempted to have him open since he still is one of our better technical batsmen.

Means he wouldn't be able to bowl as much which is probably a stupid idea.

Tony Greig batting average 40 bowling average 32. Not too shabby.

Stokes is one of the most overrated crickers of all time.

He’s had a couple of special moments which he dines out on (Leeds 2019 and the WC final). But his batting is terrible. He’s a handy bowler but can’t be relied on for fitness. Yet he’s spoken about as if he’s one of the greats of the game. It’s bizarre.

This series is going to be another heavy defeat, but that’s no different to previous away ashes series. Ultimately we’ve enjoyed more success playing this way than we did in the years prior so I can’t see it changing until stokes and McCullum go.
I know his record isn’t as good but I personally rate Freddie more highly than Stokes. He was a hell of a bowler when fit and firing.

Think your list is a bit bonkers here mate. Jadeja, Gayle, Pollock and Jayasuria don’t belong in the great all rounder category - you’ve got to be a GREAT player.
That also includes fielding, the charisma to take a match or team by the scruff of the neck and being a star with both bat and ball. The other thing is the standard of their team mates.
I would keep Sobers, Kallis and Imran for sure. All incredible. Hadlee was an amazing bowler which compensated for his batting being okay but not at the level of others - but he was essentially carrying NZ for a while.
Fully agree about Mike Proctor (I was only young when he played bug shag a tour de force) and Kapil. Botham of course has to be there.
As for Stokes, I think over his career he does deserve to be clinging onto the elite group using all of my criteria and given his injuries and the burdens of captaincy.

Shaun Pollock averaged 23.1 with the ball with over 400 test wickets and 32.3 with the bat (a whole 3 runs less than stokes)

He quite literally shits all over stokes and it isn’t even close. Pollock is one of the most underrated players of all time, as you’ve just proved.

Jadeja averaged 40 with the bat and would be the best spinner in English history.

I don't know why you're talking about nonsense like charisma, I doubt your Hindi is good enough to really know what he's like. He's certainly had plenty of match deciding innings with bat and ball.

Jadeja's got how many centuries? 6.
All the other players in the frame (Hadlee notably excepted) have way more.
He's barely got any wickets outside India
By charisma, I mean having that aura which can scare the opposition.
Don't think the opponents are thinking....."oh shit, Ravendra's coming on"

Superb bowler with great stats - you're spot on.
But the batting is no more than reasonable - he's got a huge % of not outs which skew his average and only 2 tons.

How many 10 wicket hauls has Stokes got? 5fers?

Jadeja has a better average with the bat in England, India, Australia and NZ than Stokes, better average in NZ, Australia and South Africa with the ball.

You're main criticism is that he plays for a good team, so hasn't been the hero as often, he's just excellent with bat and ball consistently, like we saw in England this summer. He's also an incredible fielder.
