What’s the weather like today and tomorrow because unless we get 8/80 today we going 2 down!
Looks as if it will be cloudy over St. John’s Wood today and brighter tomorrow. No rain, however, for either day, so the conditions today would appear to be more conducive for bowling.

No chance we will play only 3 seamers

We did in the first test

Robinson and Anderson are not bowling fast enough or well enough to stay in the team, Tongue could stay in but Wood and Woakes have to be given their chance so does the spinner Rehan Ahmed.

We need to be a bit more lucky today Aussies played and missed a shit load yesterday! The only hope we have is to get them out for no more that 80 runs!

Fortuna has certainly not been smiling on the bowlers, of either side. There seems to have been a higher than normal number of balls that have gone passed the bat, both outside and inside, and one has to feel for the poor bowlers. It must be particularly galling for them when they then see batsmen repeatedly holing out to dross deliveries.

I think 80 might be overly optimistic, Waspish. England’s best hope might be to keep the run rate down in the first two sessions today and hope that Australia bat so long that they don’t give themselves enough time to bowl England out again, particularly if Lyon remains unavailable. England would probably accept that situation given their current position in this Test, and Australia just might accept that prospect given Lyon’s injury and the fact that there would be only three Tests left. Could England show the discipline to bat out 3-4 sessions, however?

Love Jimmy but reminds me of playing Komps, Merlin & Yaya who were past their best towards the end……

Yeah slow play field back

In the late 90s and early noughties, the English team was often comprehensively outplayed by a series of great Australian teams: the teams of Gilchrist, Hayden, Ponting, Langer, McGrath, Warne, etc. You could sort of accept it, because Australia was blowing pretty much everyone away at the time. Except maybe India in India — a notoriously hard place to win a series in.
Sorry, but this is not one of the great Australian teams. They may be world champions, according to what happened in a one-off against India, but they are simply not a great team. They're a good team, that carries on the tradition of not wanting to lose against the poms.
This is what kills me in this situation. England really should be able to beat this team. They have absolutely shot themselves in the foot.
