Probably in the minority but I’m not really in the ‘spirit of the game’ camp when it comes to controversial moments that lead to a dismissal or goal etc

If it’s in the laws of the game it’s in the laws. That simple.
It was quick thinking from the Australian player and Bairstow shouldn’t have left his crease.

Likewise in football a player down injured - the other team should carry on regardless. It’s down to the officials to stop the game, not leave it to the moral judgement of the players.
Your right, you're in the minority! A very small minority.

Not without a glance backwards at least, had he done that he wouldn't have been out, all on him for me.

Fair to say, in elite sport you do what ever to win, it may not be very nice at times, and in this case it may not have been defining either, as Stokes wouldn't have gone beserk had Bairstow still been there.

That’s fine. All about opinions.
Just seems silly to me a player wouldn’t take the opportunity to get someone out when it’s on a plate.
You clearly don't understand how cricket should be played. Win at all costs is not winning. Tbh you will never understand, so here endeth the lesson what good it did.

Indeed, Cricket should perhaps go against the blueprint in terms of spirit and I can totally understand those who think his dismissal was totally unfair.
Me personally, I like a win at all cost attitude in sport and would blame the law makers and officials rather than the player who has acted legally.

I've played cricket for years, at a fairly useless standard it has to be said, and it's exactly how cricket has been played even at that level, this is just a "we lost" argument I'm afraid, we'd have lost anyway regardless of that, probably earlier than we did.

Really?? Yep obviously it's not as if Bairstow was a decent player or such like.

Next you will be defending them for using sandpaper! Hey their bowlers never noticed??!! Bet you believed that as well??

That's all Carey will ever be remembered for is all you need to know. Think about it and then tell me you would do the same. Says a lot about a man !

I’m torn, really. It was pretty snide, but my judgement is probably clouded by my all-consuming hatred of the Australian cricket team. If the roles were reversed, and Bairstow had done it to Labuschagne or Smith I’d probably have loved it. Hopefully it’ll ramp the atmosphere right up at Headingley though. Series has probably gone, but for fuck’s sake let’s not get whitewashed at home.
