I'm guessing....

Not worked so far, then. If it wasn't financial, I'm struggling to see why it was introduced. The T20 was well established at that stage, along with the 50 over "one day cup". There was no need for another one day competition. And, going on what you linked, no real appetite for it.

But it’s losing money isn’t it?
That all depends on whom you listen to and how things are counted. Those who oppose it say it is losing money and not making as much as Deloitte had predicted, whereas those who are in favour of it say it is doing okay and that it is still too early to say; they also point out that it is raising the profile of the women’s game. That last point may well be true but that might not be enough to satisfy the bean counters.

Of course you are right it is financial but it has failed so far, it is a toxic brand in cricket circles, a bit like the BDO ended up.

There was a big bribe to counties not involved with a ground to vote for it, but it doesn't seem to be covering its operating costs alone yet never mind make money to pay all the counties.

T20 if run properly, could be the major cash cow of the game.
Mate who’s been to The Hundred the past 2 years says he won’t go again this year, because last year it was a lot more sanitised and less enjoyable.
He felt last year they’d altered the vibe compared to the year before, and tried to go too far in the ‘family friendly’ direction, at the expense of people who wanted to go and enjoy it with a few of pints with a bit of atmosphere.
He said T20 was now much better.

100% agree. I was thinking of comparing it to baseball, where they play 160 game's in a regular pension. Probably not a good comparison.

I really like the ‘Manchester Originals’ name. Cool as fuck!

Both England and Australia penalised for slow over rates.

England lost 19 of the 28 test championship points they won, and lost chunks of match fees too (capped at 50% I think).
Australia lost 10 points and 50% fee for Old Trafford test.

While it's good to see over rates being punished, I expected Australia to have lost more than that. Looking into it, bowling the opposition out inside 80 overs negates losses (not sure if just for that innings), as does bowling out a side twice inside 160 overs.

The washout at Old Trafford ended up meaning Australia were judged on one innings there, and were found to be 10 overs short.

Don’t know if it’s because we’re 3 years in now, or because the ashes has made me really want cricket to grow and be back on free to air tv, but I’m starting to get behind the hundred a bit now.

Looks fine tomorrow for Lanky at Scarborough. Final at Trent Bridge clashes with West Ham away.
