Wow is this the first time we've seen a double century in a chase?

Incredible doing what he was doing with half a body when he was cramping like hell.

Edit: I think the only thing that comes close is the 1983 world cup and Kapil Dev needing a 175 not out to get the win when everyone else was just useless.

That knock gave confidence to India and they won that 1983 world cup.

I wonder if Aussies will have the belief that they can win it all now.. they certainly know how to even though I am hoping the Kiwis do get one - they were terribly unlucky in 2019!

Forget about disliking the Aussies and all that churlishness. I have no problem in stating my belief that Maxwell's innings is the greatest in the one-day game. The more so in that he couldn't use his feet for a large part of the end of it. It wasn't chanceless, but it was astonishing. That said, Afghanistan will be absolutely kicking themselves about those two dropped catches.
Let's acclaim sportsmen (and women) when they do great things. Regardless of who they play for.

That Root dismissal will be shown 100 of times like the Husain ball that rolled along the floor to get him out![emoji38][emoji23][emoji38]

Quite enjoying this while watching the match under the premise that England are the underdogs.

I would rather they lose this to complete the humiliation and we see real change afterwards.

This cloud doesn't need a silver lining.

Still big faves to win, were massive faves with well over 300 on the cards, now 294 still expected.

I think it's a real sign of an organisation in trouble when they issue contracts during a WC. They've binned Willey off, and given contracts to the rest who have performed abysmally. I know franchise cricket is a threat but it all seems odd - particularly when you see Stokes only took a short contract because he knows he can get more if he waits. Doesn't seem the sort of thing you should be sorting out whilst there's a WC going on, particularly one where we've been absolutely dire. We've not played a lot of ODI cricket, but still this is fucking appalling!

Why the fuck is Bairstow opening the batting in a 50 over match? He is a fucking liability who generally means we get off to a bad start. If he has to play then have him as a number 6 smashing it and let someone who values their wicket more open the innings. He is the catalyst for batting failure. ODI very different to T20 where there is a value in him opening.
