Surrey 20-2 trailing by 150 against Somerset and Essex 57-4 at tea against third place Hampshire, still 63 runs behind. Looking like that will be a one innings game unless Essex can dig in and get a lead. They'll be hoping they can at least hold out long enough for Dan Lawrence to be released from the England squad and come back to bat in their second innings!

Would be good to see Surrey lose just to open things up a bit. Lancs need wickets quickly.

Presumably the pitch doing very little. So that does make me slightly wonder if England would have bowled the Aussies out early had they been able to play on Sunday.

The decline of the West Indies is simply incomprehensible to me. Nobody's been able to explain it to me to my satisfaction. I know that amongst many kids in the islands football's taken over, and that's one of the reasons.
When I was growing up they were the team. And that remained true right through the seventies, and well into the eighties. Very, very melancholy.

My favourite story about the West Indies was the TMS team turned at one of the grounds in the 80s/90s.
The ground was under water a few days before.
Left to bake in the blistering sun so the 'quicks' would be bowling on a concrete like surface.
The kids growing up, generally, wanted to be those bowlers back then, whilst others wanted to be like Sir Viv.

But as @MillionMilesAway said 'a lot move towards US sports'.

Yeah, 2 went down toward end of the session, but it was a day of toil in general.
Balderson was by far the most effective bowler but for some reason (maybe carrying an injury) he was only used very sparingly through the day.
