One ball change per session maximum would be a place to start. Only allow it to be tested at drinks and between sessions.

It's not just that the game can change from 1 extreme to the other, we now have these periods when a team decides the ball is shit, and they just stop playing cricket properly for 45 minutes while they try to beat the ball up until it fails the test. It's boring when England do it too.

how can the umpires give them a ball and then 45 minutes later it doesn't fit the tool? That's madness - why was the ball in the box to start with?

The balls are shit and falling apart after <10 overs, it's that simple.

Apparently wickets are much harder these days because they realised the ball dents a soft pitch and that gives unpredictable bounce they don't really want, even if they want the ball to move a bit.

Bats are apparently harder now too, plus players hit it harder more often.

But I remember when this all started Dukes blamed covid affecting their manufacturing process, which is obviously bullshit.

At the last test I said Carse could hold up an end and support Smith. He was immediately out for next to nothing. But, glory be, he is doing it this time.

I recall the fiasco a few years ago when the balls became useless after about 45 overs - I seem to recall they thought that the cork source had been poor. I should pop round to their factory and have a word - it's not far away!

I'm not surprised that the massive bats of today have an effect on them, but that's going to affect the Kookaburra ball too, surely?

I'm a bit surprised that there hasn't been a proper investigation, because it's getting silly.

Been out of the room 15 mins, how many times have India had the ball changed? There’ll be more fucking ball changes at Lords than Wimbledon today
