What’s everyone’s opinion on Pope? Seems to be highly rated but he never fills me with confidence.
He’s also being lined up for when Stokes gives up the captaincy.
Again he doesn’t perform. Never gets his place questioned.
Id bring Folkes in and play Bairtstow as just a batsmen.

We are at home and I have to continually listen to aussie tv. It’s as bad as the commentary and pundit coverage of City in Sly and BT. I don’t want to hear an Aussie cheering when England lose a wicket

Better than the openers but maybe not good enough. 1 to 3 is at a much lower level than 4 to 7, to put it mildlyAgain he doesn’t perform. Never gets his place questioned.

He just got the best ball of the test match I don’t think you can hold that against him.
He’s vice captain, and averaging 60.16 this year so he’s not going anywhere.

I think the 205 v Ireland helped that. Against top sides he’s always lacking in my view

Yeah fair enough but he’s still averaging 47 batting at 3 over 23 innings now with 3 centuries and 4 fifties (can you tell I’ve got cricinfo up).
He’s still learning the position having played most of his test matches at 5,6 & 7 plus he’s only 25 so well worth the investment if he can get a bit more consistent we will have a number 3 for the next 10 years.
