Bet it's raining again now though!

I did say before the test started that it was a nailed on draw as half the playing time would be lost to the weather

If it's any consolation, after raining all night it's clearing up here in mid Cheshire and generally our weather hits Manchester a couple of hours later

Drizzle currently

Update from near the ground. It stopped raining about ten minutes ago. It's still overcast however the Old Trafford drainage is excellent so if there's no more rain it's possible we may start on time.

Also just seen some convict fans with their umbrellas still up. The soft twats!!

Weather is looking like it will take a lot of time out of the game, but it will mean that batting becomes very hard. Get that 200 lead and then use the weather to skittle them!

Fuck me the Aussies been luckiest team ever they should be 3 down and now the rain is going to save them

We've also shot ourselves in the foot, to some extent. Was watching the highlights for days one and two last night. Something very striking — we took our catches. All of them. Not one dropped catch, I think, in this test. Some not particularly easy ones, too. And by God what a catch from Bairstow! That'll do his confidence no end of good.

We need to have the Aussies at least 6 down by the end of today to stand any chance.

No reason why they couldn't have a reserve day on Monday to be used if a certain amount of time is lost.

The cheating twats will be claiming the outfield is too slippy, the light is not good enough, the crowd don’t like them etc etc.

Watched the highlights, Crawley played some great shots but also got also rode his luck a lot. I guess when you play like that you're going to need a fair portion of it.

Stopped raining . Smash a quick 200 then stick the cheating convict cunts back in !

If Crawley got a big 100 every day 4th test he plays I’d say that’s a great return problem is he won’t get another big 100 for another 12 test matches ain’t good enough plus he could has ti have all the look in the world to get to that score and that shot he got out too could of been when he was under 20 runs! Thing is though there is no one else out there who can open and why we stick with him…

If he averages 55.0 in an ashes series do we really care how it's made up? Big game winning centuries are always going to be rare, the more impressive thing is that he's gotten a good start in 5 of his 7 innings in the series and he's putting himself in positions where he can make big scores. Consistency in turning more of those good starts into centuries will come as he gets older and his confidence keeps improving.

Yep, that’s the one. Lancs looked on course for the highest total in English first-class cricket too, that being Yorkshire’s 887 way back in 1896, but we subsided from 844/5 to 863 all out!

I don’t think Fairbrother remotely did himself justice in test match cricket but I also don’t think he was given anything like enough chances. I recall him being out for a duck on his debut against Pakistan at Old Trafford but he was unlucky in that he was coming in to bat late in the day in fading light, and it rarely got much better than that for him after that.
Unfortunately northern based players don’t usually get many chances if they fuck up early doors…..

He had 6-7 flashes where the ball could have gone anywhere, inside edge and outside edge. In that sense, his play was no different from what it has been, just, as you say, riding his luck.
