Cricket Thread

Didnt see any this afternoon. Winter indoor league starts for me on Sunday morning so went and bowled in the indoor nets to tune up. Sad ****, I know. Take advantage of days off in the week. And a bowling geek.

bowled it in nice and straight, got a few to move both ways and a bumper in indoor cricket is priceless. Got them all tuned up nice. Tried a slower ball with same action but out of the back of the hand. More practice needed but my knees will preclude it sadly. See how much they swell up tomorrow, may be alright

It’s hard work bowling, swinging it indoors is impressive though!
 
The result yesterday means there's more hope for England than there might have been. We just need to better judge the wicket and conditions and go back to basics. Pick our best batsmen and best bowlers for the wicket and go from there.

There haven't been many huge scores so far, and I can't help but feel England need to drop the aggression at all costs mentality, for a more pragmatic approach. Plenty of sides have got off to sluggish starts only to end up with a competitive score in the end.

We were sluggish in the last WC but adapted and went on to win it, so hopefully we can do the same this time around. I'm not hugely confident, but we'll see!

Maybe Afghanistan can back up their win over us with a performance today. I haven't seen any of it so far, but surprised they've decided to bowl first when they won having set a score last time out. Pretty even start, if they can take a couple more wickets they're in the game big time.
 
Just seen they've spilled two catches already so NZ should be 3 down! Those are the things that will cost them the game, shame their all-round performance against England was so good!
 
Afghanistan got a couple quick wickets another 1 here will put New Zealand under big pressure! Oh they you go they got another! Have to say Afghanistan have some serious bowlers

Very good with the ball, not so good with the bat or in the field. It all came together against England, combined with our lacklustre performance with bat and ball.

Anything more than 4 an over will be tricky for them to chase though. I'm surprised they didn't bat first again...but they're doing okay. Another couple of wickets before the 40th over and they could go on and win this.

I think NZ will win it comfortably though.

Australia v Pakistan. Pakistan have chosen to bowl. Not sure what result would be best for England here. Probably a Pakistan win based on who they have left to play in comparison to Australia.
 
It feels a little bit like the rugby where if we do manage to scrape through to the semis we will probably get dicked. You never know though in knockouts, got to be in it to win it.

Getting into the knockouts is the only thing to worry about at the moment. With the start we've had, we might not have the luxury of finding out how we perform in the semi finals.
