Can somebody explain to me why Covid still seems to be happening in Australia?
It is incredible, and depressing, to see so many empty seats at cricket grounds round the world when such great test cricket is being played.

Remember being at Lords and the Oval for matches against the Windies in the late sixties and early seventies and through the five days (if it went to that) nearly every seat would be taken.

Its because they are playing the West Indies, India or England the ex-pats sell the ground out. Cameron Green was playing for Australia with Covid the other day so don't think they give a fuck about it anymore.

It's the ultimate format of the game. I totally understand the appeal of the ODI and T20 formats; a result in one day, and lots of crash, bang, wallop" stuff*. The broadcasters must love it. And judging by the attendances that test matches are getting in most parts of the world (even the GABBA was sparsely populated), it could be argued that test cricket is dying. But, for me, an exciting 5 (or even 4 or 3) day test match can't be bettered.

*That Hundred bullshit can fuck off, though.
Hear hear X 1000.
But who are we against the unwashed masses?

Team for tomorrow’s test announced:

Crawley
Duckett
Pope
Root
Bairstow
Stokes
Foakes
Ahmed
Hartley
Bashir
Anderson

Two changes - Bashir and Anderson come in for the injured Leach and Wood.

Strange bowling choices - pick 3 spinners and open with Root.
Halfway through the day and Ahmed hasn't had a bowl yet.

I don't have it on, but the BBC report just suggested it was slowgoing, yet India are on course for 300+ in a day.

Jaiswal seems to be enjoying himself though - a 3-hour hundred is good going.

Questionable tactics to bowl Root excessively and to operate primarily around the wicket to a right hander, bowling mostly down the leg side.

Looks like a great toss to win.
