Cristiano Ronaldo - not City

He may be a dick but I'd have Luis Suarez here all day long. Him and Aguero would be the best strike force in years. And at this point I don't care if we're holistic or heinous, I want this team to win relentlessly. Surely though, Barca won't sell when they aren't allowed to buy to replace him yet?
Congratulations on your 40,000th post. You're one of a very rare breed of poster whose post count makes mine look every so slightly less embarrassing.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks GDM! Although I'd be happy if Ric reset it to 100 as I've had a few snarky remarks about my post count. :) (truth is I used to post a lot more than now)

Anyway, while preparing dinner I was imagining a strike force set up like Barca's with Aguero in the middle (Bony as his backup), Suarez on the right, and any of Sterling/KDB/Bale/Depay on the left in a 4-3-3. Then Silva in a midfield 3 (Iniesta role), a little deeper than he's used to playing, in front of Fernandinho and a top midfield signing. Now that's a team that could scare anyone. :)

And could be adjusted in several ways with a good squad (more conservative - add Fernando, more possession based - add Nasri).

That's pretty much how I would love it to be.

I would add though, those 4 names that you have listed for the LF, can equally be used on the right, and I wouldn't mind any two of them for both the LF and RF. It wont be as technical as having Suarez in, and I woudnt expect as much possession as we have now, but it would be younger and cheaper, and relatively more realistically achievable. I'd love it to be De Bruyne and Sterling though

I'd have been dissapointed not to have scored at least 3 or 4 against that Granada side, they gave up at 2-0, it was pathetic. That's the difference between the PL and La Liga for goalscoring records, a lot of spanish teams just throw in the towel, whereas in England everyone has a bit of pride (except Sunderland and QPR a couple of times this season). Real realistically should have scored 15 goals in that game

So very true and it's something that people ignore. That said Ronaldo is Ronaldo. Best player in the world for me and it's not like he does not score goals when it matters like say Schalke where they were going out.

I know it's subjective, but he's absolutely nowhere near Messi for me and never has been. He might be the best goalscorer in the world, just. But Messi's all round game is just so far beyond what Ronaldo is capable of. Messi is just about on par with Ronaldo for goalscoring ability, but he's also just about the best playmaker in world football. Ronaldo will always score goals and get the stats that people love, but Messi is so much more beneficial to the team.

Is all this talk of Ronaldo just a smokescreen for Messi coming to City or is the Sheikh's funding of Real Madrid's stadium about to bring us one of the world's finest talents.

Still would not want Ronaldo though. Gifted but not a team player and not holistic so on that alone I would be surprised if Ronaldo signed for City.

Totally agree with BigOscar. A great goalscorer and destroyer of utter shite, hence his 5 today.
He is also the most selfish player I have ever seen. Scored the fourth in the Champs league final and celebrated like it was the winner!
His career is all about personal glory not team success. That's why he was so desperate to get goals today, to move clear of Messi in the top scorers chart!
I wouldn't want him because at 30 he's past his best (I know that's still better than most) and I hope we go for someone like Bale.
A team player who wants to win things and wouldn't be happy coming second even if he won personal accolades.

That's what is said and Messi certainly has better play making abilities, but Ronaldo is a lot more than a goal scorer and can score a greater variety of goals. I know Messi actually gets a number of headers, but Ronaldo is a physical monster and is very good on the ball too. Messi has nearly always had a better team that set him up in better positions. At international level when they have played in weaker teams (Ronaldo significantly weaker) Ronaldo has always been able to impose himself and make a bigger difference.

5 wow. Still, loads here don't want him..... Lmao

That's because we see a bigger picture.
Exactly.

After just over 18 months, against West Brom Navas put in a half decent cross that beat the first man. And now you want him replaced. You fickle twat!

As someone who watches Portugal a lot, I cannot agree with that at all. He is the Portuguese Rooney when it comes to international football, getting all the credit, scoring against shit teams and generally sucking at tournaments. Portugal under his captaincy have been generally poor, usually struggling to even qualify for tournaments, then he goes missing when they get there.
