That’s very concerning. I’m not going to go looking for that video but do hope it’s misleading, we have had videos showing such things in the past which have ended up not being what they appear. Let’s hope so.

My brothers married to a Jewish girl who was on her way there when one of her mates called her when travelling to it and told her what had happened. 20 mins so earlier she'd of been there. i know that synagogue, pass it regularly and they always have security on the outside fence...

It’s walking distance from the first house I lived in - that was a long time ago but it does make it feel a bit different from other incidents.

We've just had the following statement from Greater Manchester Police, giving more details on the incident:

"Police were called to the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, on Middleton Road, Crumpsall, at 9.31am by a member of the public, stating he had witnessed a car being driven towards members of the public, and one man had been stabbed.

"GMP declared PLATO and a major incident at 9.37am. Shots were fired by Greater Manchester Police firearms officers at 9.38am. One man has been shot, believed to be the offender.

"Paramedics arrived at the scene at 9.41 and are tending to members of the public, currently four members of the public with injuries caused by both the vehicle and stab wounds.

"Members of the public are asked to avoid the area while the police continue to deal with the incident."

Hopefully none of the victims are seriously injured and if the only fatality is the perpetrator that's a result.
