All the Jewish schools are closed today anyway as it's Yom Kippur but this is the sort of threat they have to live with every single school day. I need a photo pass to get past security at the school my little granddaughters go to. They're 3 and 5.

Synagogues have had layers of security for years. Any Jewish organisation that has a public meeting has security. We have our own communal security organisations. This is the world we live in this supposedly tolerant, liberal democracy.
 
Saw the video can’t get my head around the idiot stood at the fence watching as armed police think he may have a bomb, get the fuck away you bellends.

it doesn't help those caught up in this horrific incident today, but these incidents are still very rare in this country.

I had exactly the same thought. Rather than standing around swearing and filming I think I would have been inclined to move away fast
 
What a horrible day for Manchester, for the families of those whom have lost their lives, for the Jewish community, and those of other faiths who will now face the slings and arrows of those around them.

We must find a place where there is less hatred in the world. I am tired of reading about man's inhumanity to man.

Echoed my sentiments exactly. Utterly horrific, and for Mancunians it will always hit harder when it happens in Manchester.

There's a difference between filming a drunken thug being thrown off a plane and filming someone lying dead on the pavement. I can't speak for everybody, because human nature is fickle; but I know within myself, if somebody was bleeding out I wouldn't pick up my phone to start filming it. That takes a warped mind, in my view.

It looked as though the lad filming was in a vehicle and unable to drive away, doesn't explain him filming but other than bailing out of his vehicle he was stuck there.
He did say he was going to get out at one point but it all happened so quickly.

@Zabbasbeard I confess that this post made me cry. Our beautiful Manchester as you say is so diverse. We've lived together side by side. I cannot comprehend why. x

Me neither, I like to think I would've got out and tried to help the person on the ground, even though, from the footage it appeared they were beyond help.

I would have abandoned my car then! I dare say the footage could be used as evidence in any enquiry (albeit the officers body cam would show the same story)

I wouldn’t either, I was just using that as an example of how people don’t think anymore, it’s completely second nature to pull out a phone and start recording - whatever the incident maybe.

No argument from me, just pointing out he was in a vehicle as opposed to standing around filming.
 
The Bishop of Manchester has just made a moving statement on the BBC.
They will never break our spirit. Once again I think of the video from the Last Leg.
It is too early to post that now but we will come through this, nothing will ever stop us helping each other. There's no hate here, we choose love.
Look after the people who are suffering, don't let them drive us apart. Please. :-)
