Can I just say?
I have never heard of a single 1 of these
Thank you
Can I just say?
When I think about Red Star Belgrade, I remember they were owned, operated, and supported by many who would eventually become war criminals, and many of the atrocities committed by their ultras at the time were actually planned and coordinated out of their old stadium. When I think of Red Star Belgrade I remember they were the team Utd beat in the European Cup, drew 3-3 over there i think, before flying back to Manchester with a refueling stop in Munich.
Bloody predictable that you’d have a van parked in midfield.
His first name is busco as well!:))Bloody predictable that you’d have a van parked in midfield.
It’s going to be a car park sort of match! His first name is busco as well!:))
I doubt it, somehow. That was done before the Newcastle game.is the European Cup being paraded about a bit tonight, pre-kick off?
As promised, here is the predicted lineup. The names are written in Serbian, so some of the foreign names are spelt differently.
Glazer- Israel NT starting goalkeeper, new summer signing, one user here who is from Israel said he doesn't rate him very much, only played in a few games so I can't say much about him. Had an excellent performance against Fiorentina in a pre-season friendly looked pretty average in the league so far.
Spajić-former Serbian national team member, used to play in France between 2013-2016 and after that had spells in Russia, Belgium and Netherlands. Looked promising as a youngster, but he's very injury prone and does make silly mistakes from time to time. Rodić who is written below him as a potential second option for that position is a leftback that the new coach uses as a centreback. He has a few caps for Serbia as well, but he's not very good.
Mijailović is a defensive midfielder but mostly used as a centreback by the new coach. I'm quite surprised he's playing in most games, I thought he would be a sub at best, but he has actually been one of their better defenders so far this season. Pretty slow and usually quite poor, but had some excellent games this season.
Dragović- Club captain, 4th most capped player for Austrian national team (he's of Serbian descent though and has been a Red Star fan since childhood) in history with 100 caps. At club level, he's most famous for his Bayer Leverkusen days, had a short loan spell at Leicester in 2017-18 season. Very good defender and probably the only one who could potentially be able to deal with any of your attackers.
Mitrović is a winger who plays as a wingback in Bakhar's system. Only current Serbian international in the team(although he hardly ever plays), quite fast and a decent dribbler and long shot taker, but not really good defensively so you should get a lot of joy down your right attacking side.
Hwang In-beom, newest recruit and a club record signing (around 5 million euros). South Korea international (47 caps, played at the World Cup for Korea in all 4 of their matches too). A box-to-box midfielder. Was excellent at Olympiacos last season, by far their best player. Some Italian clubs were rumoured to be interested in him before the window ended. On paper, probably Red Star's best player, but this would be his second game for the club so I'm not sure how much understanding he has with his new teammates.
Stamenić- summer signing from Copenhagen, Serbian father, Samoan mother plays for New Zealand national team. A defensive midfielder who starts most of their attack and controls the tempo of the game. Probably Red Star's best player so far this seasons and both of Red Star's losses came in games where the opponents tried to frustrate him.
Degenek- normaly plays as a centreback or sometimes as rightback, but he's expected to start as a counter to Doku. Serbian born, Australia international(44 caps, played in both of the previous two World Cups). A big game player, always plays the best in big games and often scores set-piece goals in them as well. Turned down a offer from China that was 10x better financialy than what he used to earn at Red Star in one of his previous stints at Red Star because he loves the club, this is his third stint with the club and both previous times he left he did it because the coach didn't want him, he is really Red Star through and through.
Ivanić- Serbian born former Montenegro international. A number 8/10 hybrid. Very creative player, excellent dribbler, was Red Star's best player in both games against AC Milan a few seasons ago when they drew them both times and where only out because of the away goals rule. A bit slow, but probably my favourite Red Star player to watch.
Krasso, new summer signing from Saint- Ettiene, Ivory Coast international, current top scorer(6 goals in 7 games) and was MOTM in the pre-season thrashing of Fiorentina(5-0). Main set-piece taker. Fast and skilful. Already has a very good understanding with his partner uptop Olayinka.
Olayinka, summer signing from Slavia Prague, Nigeria international. Very fast and direct, their main outlet on counter attacks, was Red Star's best player during pre-season. I'd be wary of his pace on counter attacks, he might not have played extremely well so far in competitive matches so far but that's mostly because opposing teams park the bus against Red Star. This guy is ideal for counter attacking football.
Other players:
In the text they say that another dillema is between Degenek and Bukari. Bukari was Red Star's best player in European matches last season. A winger who plays mostly as a wingback for this new coach. Absolutely rapid. One of the fastes players I've ever seen (and I'm not talking Serbian football but in general). Plays for Ghana NT(scored the goal against Portugal in the last WC and copied Ronaldo's celebration). Sometimes a bit too selfish but on his day an excellent footballer. Degenek is expected to start because of the Doku threat as Bukari as a wingback would probably be too offensive.
Kangwa- Zambian international, box-to-box midfielder, was linked with Nottigham Forest in the summer
Kanga-Gabon international, unpredictable player who can be both terrible and very good, scores rockets from almost the half way line pretty regularly (scored 3-4 in big European games even)
Katai-old school number ten, his best days are probably behind him, quite skilful but extremely slow
Ndiaye- new striker signing, missed an open goal on his debut in thier most recent game which they ended up losing. Don't know much about him otherwise tbf.
Kabić and Lučić- unproven young wingers, probably will come on if there's nothing to play for.
Milunović-Tall, unathletic, old centreback. If Red Star manages to hold on for a long time in the game, he might come on to try and get the result over the line.
Djiga- new cb signing from Basel. Don't know anything about him in all honesty, supposedly he's very fast.
Vasiljevic and Popovic- 2nd and 3rd choice goalkeepers, not much needed to be said about them as they won't play.
As I said many times, I can't see you not winning this game, but still I wanted to give you a run-down of their players, so you'd know at least something you can expect from some of them. Good luck tomorrow!
