How can you guys think Otamendi and Stones should play before Ferna and Rodri 'just because they are CBs'? Otamendi is useless and Stones has been injured for a long time and need to be his absolute best against Palace, which he won't be. In-form Rodri has played every game so far and knows how to defend. This team makes all the sense in the world. Ferna, Rodri and Gundogan makes a very strong defensive trio in the middle. Cancelo has the pace against Zaha. Mendy is strong and tall and will help out defensively when we face crosses and balls we need to clear.

I am very hopeful.

Always trusted pep before, but today has me scratching my head. Rodri has been away on international duty so we can't have had much time to come up with a plan, unless they're all so familiar with the style of play that it shouldn't matter.

A bit uneasy at that lineup. Hopefully we start on fire and the ability of our players in possession means we score more than them.

I believe Pep has had that in his mind for a while - I even think it was muted before that Rodri could play CB before we signed him.
I’m trusting his decision here but it will be a tough game that we MUST win

Not a good feeling after just seeing the line up. I just can’t see is ever putting out our strongest team this season. How have we got to this point where we have no centre halves ?

I’m more worried about Cancelo and Mendy having to think about doing two roles (their own role and defensive leaders for the two midfielders playing centre half) than I am the actual two midfielders playing centre half.

After the initial shock i'm now intrigued with how this will play out. I would have played Garcia though he may not have the experience but it's his position and he would be comfortable with it. I would think that players who are playing out of position are more likely to be caught out. It is what it is though and I'm praying it ends up being a stroke of genius.
