Crystal Palace (H) Post Match Thread

Well he's trying to make things look good . We should have gotten at least a draw and that keeps us within 3 points off top and psychologically in tune. Out managed today. Let's hope kevin and Aguero , possibly Fern play from the START mid week.
Actually we should have won, no matter how poor we played. Very unlucky in first half not to have a couple of goals. Unlucky with Leroy’s free kick; and deary me; Jesus should have scored that header. Don’t think he was out managed, the team selection was bizarre and completely unbalanced.

With the drama some show here I'm surprised we aren't in the presence of acting royalty. Also wondering how many are still wetting their beds at night.

FFS it's a competition... ala diversion from real life/ real problems. If this is your sole focus... take a long look at your priorities. Some act like the title should be awarded to us day one and shit the bed anytime we aren't winning all games 4-0 and leading the league by 8+ points. Sit back... relax and enjoy the process... If it's too much stress there is a professional dart league to follow.

I read a lot of comments on her about the starting lineup being wrong. Sorry but I don’t buy it, you can’t say on the one hand that we have th best and deepest squad and then complain when the starting lineup is rotated. The starting eleven today should have been enough to beat a very average Palace team. It just didn’t happen. Stones and Walker were poor but mostly we failed to exploit our possession, loads of corners were wasted and we did not manage to take advantage of the space created by Palace doubling and tripling up on Sane and Sterling.

Shit day at the office for sure. I don’t think we can afford to lose any more games this season.

Well I can safely say after travelling all the way from Cornwall to watch, paying for a hotel, fuel, tickets food etc. All come to about £500-£600, what a complete waste of my money. I’m never critical of us when we lose. (Can’t won them all) but the pure laziness and it looked like we didn’t know what to do. The players should realise we are fans who care about this club more than any team. For me City comes before anything. I spend so much money coming to Manchester to watch when I can. Everyone who puts that sky blue dream shirt on needs to know not every fan just lives around the corner from the etihad, we spend our hard earned money to come and sit in the cold for 2 hours. And for the performance like that today, I think it’s unacceptable. Sorry for the long rant, guess I’m just annoyed I’ve spent all that money before Christmas!

Merry Christmas blues
wah

It is on my phone on photos. Tried to oust but you need a url which obviously I don’t have... any help?

Defence has gone to shit - most notably walker who’s been awful for the majority of the season now.

Failing to keep a clean sheet in 8 games is shocking. We’ve not particularly attacked very well since the derby but the defending is particularly worrying.

Injuries aren’t helping but intensity has to remain high over the Christmas period and for whatever reason ours has dropped. Shows how hard it is to retain a title.
Injuries have been everything

The fernandinho problem should have been sorted out a year ago, you can't keep getting away with makeshift players in this league

We desperately need to get Stones back next to LaPorte. We also need to get some replacement for Walker who once again was our biggest weak link.I felt more comfortable with young Garcia playing mid week than hoping Walker would be reliable!
Pep was saying our need to rotate over the Xmas period. Great but you still have to play your best team and replace players when they are unfit or NEED to rest. For Dogs sake this was the first game in the Xmas run in and we are resting our better players already!
We managed perfectly well without KDB but without him and David Silva we look to be lacking so badly.
Ultimately we have to blame the defence seeing as they can`t keep a clean sheet at the moment. Otamendi and Walker are both liabilities and need to be replaced or, at the very least, should not play together in the same team as it leaves to many gaps for others to plug.
I`m sure after calming down I will be embarrassed at this rant but one thing is true..... Walker is just NOT good enough and Otamendi just about viable as back up.

Yep its like Pep is managing the team on playing time with it being long season and playing around 60 games but you got to stick to the best partnership till there is an injury or suspension! Klopp will play vvd in every game unless injured we change the team an awful lot every game.
I think the centre back pairing is a vital part of any team and these two were really starting to gel. I wouldn't be messing about with that because it provides a steady base for the team. Hard to criticise Pep too much but I bet he reverts back after today.

It's all part of an conspiracy agreement with PL, UEFA, FA, BBC, SKY and probably the EU- "We'll give you Schalke, Rotherham and Burton BUT we want ScousePool to win the Prem'.

Thought we were rubbish today. Getting defensive players to push up and provide distribution to front 3 just congested the game into the final third so gundog & bernie hadnt got a clue what their roles were. Walker ??? for me is a show pony, should stay out the weights room and put more effort into learning how to defend. And what does Foden have to do to get a PL start ? Pep you didnt have a good game pal..
lol

Well its a shame, that's for true. But hey it's Christmas, let's forget about the football, whack it's a wonderful life on, and relax.

First off credit to Palace, they wasn't particularly outstanding but they took their chances, all of their chances in fact and did an adequate job defending their lead.

I've no issue with our starting lineup, nobody bar kyle Walker who was woeful and has been poor for the last month or so had a particular bad game just nobody played well either. they scored from their first chance, a fluke wonder goal and a kyle Walker gift wrapped present but our problem wasn't in defence it was in attack.

We created nothing, moved the ball far too slow from side to side with zero purpose and other than Bernardo silva they were all too happy to stand in position and wait for somebody to do something.

Think Pep got the subs badly wrong, what we needed second half was somebody to inject some pace into our game and some creativity so why bring on Aguero first and make that two players out of the game standing in the box doing nothing because we're not moving the ball well enough to create a chance? And then to add to that, after they scored the third why did he wait 10 minutes or whatever it was to bring on kdb? When he did eventually come on we had lost any kind of formation and it was just a roll the dice with getting as many attacking players as possible on and hope something comes off, we spent 40 minutes of that second half camped in their half passing side to side pointlessly not troubling their keeper, how many saves did he make all game? Even our second goal wasn't a shot. It reminded me of a Man United side under LVG.

It's obviously far from being over but that result will have a major impact on liverpool. It was always about who caves first, That 4 point gap will give them immense confidence and momentum to keep churning out wins, it means they can afford to lose at our place and still be ahead of us which is crucial as it will allow them to play however they want and forces us to go all out to beat them which puts them at an advantage in that one off game too. Imo they'll now be the bookies favourites, it could work against them in terms of can they deal with the pressure but they're not currently dropping points, the confidence will be so unbelievably high and its going to be hard to halt that.

We will move on from this and we don't tend to lose all too often for a habit to form but we do seem to struggle when we're chasing games and need a different approach,I'm not talking of a plan B lump it to Fellini option but when they sit in like that defending a 2 goal lead you have to look for different ways in and not just repeatedly move the ball sideways, we looked clueless for most of the match amd it's strange how the defenders are willing to take 40 yard pot shots but none of our attackers will get off a shot from the edge of the box. Something for Pep to work on. This has hit hard as we're simply not used to losing, especially against inferior teams and even when we do it often doesn't matter but hopefully this gives Pep and the players a little wake up call, I expect a big response in our next 3 games now.
Do you get paid per word or paragraph?

A dreadful day for us. Pep had no plan B. Our build up play was slow and predictable. What's the point of having 70% possession when you do sod all with it. Stones is no Def Mid. Clueless with his passing at times. Walker is currently a waste of space. And there was no creativity or pace up front today. But let's be realistic here. We ALL have bad days individually and collectively. It's how we bounce back that counts. Liverpools lead is only 4 points but tbf they are not losing games nor are they conceding goals either so its a fucking big 4 points. We have a real challenge on our hands now and need to rise to it and show people why we're Champions to begin with. Let's start with Leicester......

Give him some break will you? He’s been playing too many games .

Thought I was being quite gentle with him, he has been below par for an extended period.

It’s unfortunate that Danilo has been constantly unavailable.

Today, Kyle put little to no pressure on Schlupp, he tried a back heel tackle before giving away the free kick which led to their worldy of a second, and then he lunged into a challenge a Sunday league player would have been proud of.

Not a good day at the office. Hopefully he will get rested and come back stronger in the New Year.
