Crystal Palace (H) - Post-Match Thread

Days like this (extremely rare days) and a few think they could select a better team and organise a better formation on the day than the football god that is Pep. I trust the vast knowledge of Pep over that of any fellow Blue. Opinions always good amusement the rest of us though.
Pep is a good manager but please don't elevate him to the status of a god who never makes mistakes. Personally I think we have a number of players currently who have come to the end of the road for various reasons. Pep is doing a good job of shuffling a declining pack he will really earn his corn this season if he gets us one of the big two.

Belgium playing Kevin in the EUROs with ankle ligament tears and pumping cortisone in is the reason Kevin isn't able to deliver his best for us at the moment. He's lost some sharpness temporarily as a result. Suggesting he's on the decline is a comment that might come back to haunt you - if you know what I mean.
He looks like a man who needs 3 weeks resting on the beach and then 3 weeks light training. Get him back then for the New Year. Dream on.

Ederson should have saved the first goal, it was scuffed, no power, and not even in the corner. Laporte had a fucking stinker, not sure how or why he has moved back up the pecking order, Stones should now play at Trafford Park. Still fancy us next weekend.
Dead right re JS, trouble is the forthcoming international break will see our players flogged as usual and its City that suffers the consequences.
John Stones has played more for fuckin England against tin pot shite than he has for us, KDB fucked by them shithouse Belgians that apparently have been the best team of a generation but do absolutely fuck all in tournaments.

I fuckin hate international football. Should be non league and let the professionals play the proper stuff :-)
( not actually joking)

How many free passes does DeBruyne get until we're allowed to say he's playing shit?
Kevin IS playing shit, he looks a different player than he was. If he's injured he shouldnt be selected, but I think its more than that, he constantly misplaces passes and loses possession, Maybe as someone said he needs a long rest to recharge.
Today was a very bad day at the office, but all credit to CP, they were awesome especially first half, We were pressed high up, and subsequently we lost possession all over the place, Vierra played with the right tactics.
I really dont like Phil playing as false 9, it doesnt suit him. Id rather him out left or deeper. I still dont get the 100 million on Grealish. He seems to slow our attacks down (memories of Rod Marsh).
Play Foden left and buy a fucking quality striker. Not Kane thanks who seems to have gone on strike to force a move.

Pep clearly wanted Grealish and we thought that Bernardo was going so there wasn't supposed to be an overload of midfield players. Grealish is about 10 games in to his City career so not judging him yet. But how many times has Mahrez come off the bench to win a game? I'm going to say never!
Can't agree with Foden not being a false 9. He was brilliant at Chelsea, Brugge and Brighton doing the same job.
I think today was just a lazy home performance like Southampton and Burnley

What worries me is just how blunt we are in games like this. Southampton was the same. Hardly any shots on target and those that were didn't trouble their keeper.

We look lost for ideas against a low block again compared to last year when we had chances galore but failed to take them, this year we’re not even getting the chances.

I guess it doesn’t help when your main source of creativity (Kev) is having a right fucking nightmare every game but still.

We're talking about a top class player who has done well for the team, not least with a few goals. He had a really por game today - get over it.
When he was out for a season we defended poorly
Laporte has been excellent against the top teams and I still prefer him to Stones especially in the CL. I would say our leggy midfield and impotent forwards against bus parking teams should be a more worrying problem for us. In our back to back wins we would batter this sort of teams. Now even Chelsea is outscoring us. In plain terms we need a striker. I really did thought we could get away with it again but it looks like well be paying dearly for it. Where is Torres anyway?

Could KDB have said no to Belgium?

The answer is yes, he wanted to play for his country so your argument is void.

KDB last season for the player he is was average, he was very ordinary at times with flashes or pure brilliance.

His performance away at Arsenal was magnificent, he was unplayable, but since then we have seen decline.

No one is doubting his ability, but physically he looks done, and both club and player needs to seriously think where and what needs to be done, otherwise his career at he very top level will be over.

I would love to see him taken out of the firing line, even if it means losing him for 1/2 a season, because I fear without some R&R we have seen the best of KDB.

Just seen sending of again disgracefull decision!
Sorry but that simply is not true, Laporte knew exactly what he was doing, terrible, lazy defending and he was forced into having to take out Zaha.

In the rules he WAS the last man and hence a straight red.

I suggested KDB had a major issue last season but he recovered so I don't see why he wont do the same this season.
Marvin he has had major injury issues for the last 4 seasons, lets not forget he was not available during the fourmidables rum in, Bernardo came in and was magnificent.

KDB's injury/ fitness issues have a long history.

Unless the club get a grip of them, his days at the very top of the pile could be over.

Absolutely fucking atrocious to let him leave for free and not be replaced. One of the worst decisions we've ever made.
He had given 10 years incredible service had become one of the leagues greatest players in history BUT he was finished.

The criminal part was the club were fully aware that a replacement would be needed up to 2 year previous, not to identify and recruit has simply not been good enough, terrible performance from the Execs.

But we do have history of not replacing vital positions.

KDB has been out of sorts since coming back from injury at the tail end of last season. I don't think he's really had a good patch since then. I'm still hoping for someone to step up like Ilkay did at the start of the year. We need more of that. Seeing our performances this season, it's crazy to see how we can be so excellent in one match and terrible in the next one. I still prefer this over our start last year. This time last year, all the flappers and moaners wanted most of the team sold.

Bernardo and Rodri have carried this team this season, but scarily but unsurprisingly they already look knackered as we witnessed yesterday.

When our best 11 is fresh, prepared and in the mood we are a magnificent side but the drop off is scary and there is no way we can retain the title unless we balance it out.

I am starting to think it is time for a rebuild of this team and a new manager since Pep looks like he is out the door in 18 months. As for this season to early to throw in the towel but it feels different from last year when I always felt we had that extra gear I fear we might get left behind.

Laportes challenge was crap, but any competent ref would know Walker who is a yard away could easily overtake Zaha with his pace and put a tackle in

Laporte wasn't the last man it was 2 on 1.

Terrible reffereeing from a useless **** of a man
