Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

Just listen to a right twat on 606 wanting Pep out and replacing him with Klopp or arteta. He said he was a City fan, but clearly a rag in disguise.
Why a rag? There's been plenty on here tonight who want Pep out. In fact if I was Pep or a City player reading this load of wank tonight I'd probably want to leave anyway.

Ever noticed in our warm ups they practice shots from roughly the edge? And they're finding the corners and rattling in off posts. Where's that in the game?
To be honest I normally think our shooting is poor in the warm ups too certainly at the Etihad. I did notice a couple went in today though.

Your first sentence sums us up for me. When we get the chance to break invariably we don’t take it, knock it backwards a couple of times until chance gone.
There was half a chance to break late on that summed it up perfectly, we had something approaching a break on, ball comes out to foden in a lot of space, some movement with him and only about 6 players in total from both sides up with player, perfect chance to attack, without even looking up his first thought was to pass back and then trot into a completely non-threatening position ending that potential attack instantly in favour of letting them set and fall back into the exact same pattern that got us nowhere for almost 90 minutes by that point. Not singling out foden there, it happened to be him this time but they all do it.

Abysmal end to the season. Kudos and congratulations to Crystal Palace - I can imagine how happy their fans must be so good luck to them.

VAR has proven again to be a fucking joke but we were yet again shyte - Pep's Team Management has yet again been shit, his subs have been shit again - how the fuck KDB stayed on for the full match is beyond me. How the hell he didn't bring on Grealish but instead he brings on Gundogan and takes Silva off. Foden's been shit again too.

Only have ourselves to blame - don't get me started on the penalty, what the fuck was that all about.

Our one shot to finish with a major trophy and Pep and the Team fucked it again. Can't wait for the season to be over and for the wholesale changes to come.

CITY ARE BACK! :)

That's the thing isn't it we aren't moving the wing backs about because we have nobody overlapping our wide man, Nor are we pulling centre backs out of position because Haaland rarely ever makes a move towards the ball not to mention we don't have a midfielder that runs in beyond Haaland to cause other problems...

It's too static, Very pedestrian and far too slow moving the ball...Our players are taking so many touches on the ball and its far too easy for the opposition to defend against.
This is it.
My hope is they we’ve been in this position previous seasons and Pep figured it out, so hoping for new season, new verve.

I believe he may have been unable to make the changes mid-year due to the injuries/squad age etc., and latterly may not have wanted to burn a new look (if he was able to anyway) on the arse end of a shot season.
Shock and awe for 25/26…

Gotta get CL though…

Foden has had a dire season, he did nothing again today. Having said that for so many players to fall off a cliff all points back to the manager.

Did nobody on the tv channels say ‘it’s irrelevant where the ball goes, DGSO is a red herring, handball outside the area is a red card, he should be sent off for that, NOT denying a DGSO… I don’t get it, they’re missing the issue
Deliberately missing the issue.

I think we're getting exactly the same shit refereeing and VAR calls we've always had. It's just that in previous years we've been good enough to win despite them.
think you’ve articulated something very well there.

We used to have to be, and were, not just better than the opponents but so much better that any shit decision and bad luck became irrelevant.

This year we’re barely good enough to be in the same pitch as most of the opponents so any unabashed bias (of which there is a lot) or bad luck has the chance to really do some damage

Not asking to win everything every year.

But CL qualification should be a minimum. And we clinging on to that as it stands.

And as eating our words goes. What's your predictions for next year then? Win the lot?

Unless major surgery is carried out on this squad (your own words say they don't listen to Pep anyway), then we will continue to struggle to challenge next season.
No I'm not a spoilt fucking brat ,so no I don't expect to win everything next year you fucking blurt ,go and fuck off and support the scousers seems more like your kind of team , just don't be so fucking entitled, and count your blessings that you have witnessed what you have, I never thought I'd see us win fuck all ever ffs, look at what I said the team is aged it needs recruitment fresh legs, it will happen probably not overnight and to be honest I couldn't give a shit, I will support them whatever happens and whoever plays or manages us Pep is still the best in the game so fucking grow up.

It’s certainly irrelevant when it was their player that sent the ball away from goal. Horrendous decision from VAR. Shock

Just got home. Wrong team selection, wrong tactics and wrong subs. Sorry but we are miles off it at the moment and CL qualification is seriously in doubt. I love Pep with all my heart but I came away today feeling he’d fucked up royally.

It's more so tactical changes than the personnel?

We had Mahrez and Sterling who both liked cutting into thier preferred foot, The obvious difference is that we don't have anyone overlapping our wingers and it's making it easier for the opposition back five who aren't being dragged out of position like an old Pep team would normally do, We miss the likes of an old Kyke Walker massively making runs in beyond our wingers even as a decoy and alot of the time he doesn't receive the ball but it's movement that causes opposition problems.

It's just all to static and pedestrian now.
Mahrez could beat a man with his first touch
It takes Savinho two to get the ball under control

We're not expecting the same results. We know what we are with the injuries and the squad we have. We cannot and do not have the creativity to unlock these defenses with the current crop.

We are suggesting we try something other than death by passing. Teams are happy to draw. Palace were probably happy to draw and take it to pens. The hit us on the break. With some poor defending and lack of concentration, slow at reading the game etc. And then they'd done their job. They have something more to hold onto. They've a chance of becoming a legacy for Palace today and we allowed them that.

With the turgid stuff we played today. Southampton was a rehearsal for today and we failed at both. If pep can't see it then I don't know what else to say.

I don't want us turning into the dippers. But if he does uphold his 1 more year and plays the same way and we still produce lacklustre, passion less performances then people will turn on him wether he's won all he has with us. And that's out of frustration. Because we know our current limitations, and for whatever reason pep can't see them. He's blinkered by his trusted players who've performed week in week out in the 4 in a row and treble seasons. And it's stalled our progress and hindered us. When we should have been in for olmo, and some of the psg players they managed to scoop up. And look at them. On the verge of winning the champs league.

Kvaratskhelia, doue, and mendes for less than what we splurged in January.

Imagine the first 2 whipping crosses in of decent quality, or cutting inside and firing one across the keeper.
The problem is plenty ARE expecting the same results (as we would have had with the injury list from hell), it's blindingly obvious from all these world class football coaches in here that is exactly what they are expecting.

Even you're falling into the same trap, you're complaining about using the same "trusted players" but what happened in the part of the season where we had to use many of the others? We had a run of 11 without a win. Top class coaches play their best 11 as they see it on the day. Who else could we have played today? It looked on paper like a very attacking side, I was surprised in fact because I thought the likes of Marmoush and either Doku or Savio, or even both wingers, might have been rested for the match on Tuesday.

We drew last week and you've all fallen apart, were the worst team in the world again, totally obliviously of the fact that we're there only team not to have lost any of the last 6 PL matches* Nope, it's all doom and gloom because we drew at Southampton.
