Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

Hunger and desire, and too much complacency has set into the squad and it spreads to those players brought in,we are becoming like arsenal under wenger, absolutely wouldn’t be surprised we missed out on champions league for next season,as for the club World Cup it’s going to be a farcical inconvenience..

Probably already been discussed but someone told me Rooney called us cheats live on tv if that’s the case the werewolf faced rag scouse twat needs sacking
Yeah the fat wanker did during a rant about him getting banned from the 2011 FA Cup Semi apparently it was a Man City conspiracy to get him banned to which he said “City, cheating again”.
he was bailed out by the host and then said it was a joke. Etc

I’d send the women’s team to the club World Cup they stand an equal chance of winning it

Rooney doesn't understand VAR. The referee was unsighted so didn't see the play, the linesman was behind the play so couldn't see if the handling was in the box or not, so couldn't advise or overule the ref, so no foul was given on field. VAR can ONLY overrule the on-field decision if EITHER it was a penalty, OR it was a red card offense - either a serious foul or denial of an obvious goal opportunity by the last defender. We all agree it was outside the box, so VAR can't interfere on that basis as it therefore couldn't be a penalty. Erling hadn't actually touched the ball before Dean got a hand to it, so it clearly wasn't in his control, so it fails on the denial of a goal opportunity point as well. VAR therefore could not have interfered. Yes, you can argue that Erling probably would have got the ball under control if Dean didn't push it aside, but that's not the test: did he have the ball under control at that moment? No, clearly not.

Relatively neutral here, A TEAM beat a collection of individuals yesterday. There's a photo on facebook of Foden, his Mrs and one of his son's all glammed up for some event or other. Doubt there's similar of Palace players. Too much
celebrity status, has it all gone to there heads?
If the keeper doesn't handle it then Haaland is through on goal..so how the fuck do you get that it wasn't denying a goal scoring opportunity???

This thread may see more posts than the CL final thread when we won the Treble.

Apparently, a lot of people are more motivated to post when they feel unhappy.

It's not the end of the world to win no trophies after winning 4 titles in a row and the Treble.

Anyone would have accepted such a deal at the start of the 20/21season. In December 2020 many were convinced Pep was finished. They were quite stupid to think so.

It's too early to tell what the future holds. Pep deserves patience. Anyone who doesn't want to give him a chance next season is pathetic.

different - yes
better - debatable - depends on whether we qualify for CL or not....if we do we can attract the better level of player - if not then we are back to attracting tier 2 level players and that is not progress
We've got too many tier 2 players as it is, but people cry when you point this out.
The wingers are an obvious example: Sterling was as frustrating as fuck, yet he contributed significantly more than Doku, Savinho and Nunes. Leroy Sane and Mahrez were also better than what we currently have.
Current players look good in flashes but in the past we had players putting in top performances week after week after week.
It's not all down to the wingers though. Doku had two defenders with him every time he got the ball but was forced to cut back or cross with his weaker foot, and it was a similar story for Savinho. Palace could just get goal-side of our players to block everything.

Why didn't Rico get another go in midfield yesterday worked fine against Forest, but oh no he's nowhere to be seen in the squad full stop, not heard he's injured or anything. At least he brings energy on to that field something that is badly missing this season
If we think he’s he answer to our problems it shows how far backwards we’ve gone

In the spirit of the argument "yes, Henderson should have been sent off, but you got a soft penalty", which would you have preferred in totally isolated scenarios: Playing against 10 men for 65 minutes, or gotten a penalty?

I'm not saying the pen was soft, btw, but it is what's been peddled by non-City people.

How was the penalty not a penalty? The player slides takes Bernardo but doesn’t touch the ball, VAR looked at it to see if he did touch it but clearly didn’t. It’s a penalty, Marmoush didn’t take advantage of it.

He did say Var was a disgraceful decision ,the Gk should of got a red & get rid of Var .

Funny, cunts like that only pipe up after the decision has been made. Like that horrible not been punched enough twat shearer.

It was all set up for Palace even before kick off. ITV spent two hours telling us that Palace deserved it pre-kick off because they'd never won a major trophy.

Game kicked off and ref gave them everything. Keeper comes out for the clearest red you'll ever see and he doesn't even get asked to go to the monitor! Then the same keeper saves a crucial penalty.

Game needs to be looked at

Good to see you're motivated too.

It’s virtually in the centre of the goal, shit keeping and shit defending by the usual suspect Akanji.
I thought watching the replays he should have been moving quicker back across his goal once the cross was coming in. As you say it went virtually in the middle

Off yet on topic - the women's team has dropped its standards and is nowhere near being able to challenge for the big prizes. It's like the whole club has become obsessed with 115 charges, hotels and ticketing partners and forgotten that people turn up to watch what's on the pitch, not the facilities.

The current men's squad from Pep and coaches down to players has become bloated with people who are basking in previous glories and have no hunger for a fight. We don't have to look very far to see where that sort of thinking can get you.
