Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

No, just no, absolutely fucking not.
That’s how I saw it. Was happy to get the pen call but I didn’t think it was one and would have been upset had it been given against us. Replay showed defender didn’t touch the ball but Silva was going to ground before the contact. Not saying the officials purposefully gave it nor is it an equaliz(s)ing event for a keeper red.

Henderson was off the line when the pen was taken by Marmoush. Of course it should have been the Palace sub keeper trying to save it.
I’ve rewound and watched it 3 times, his left foot definitely on the line when the ball was kicked and diving to his right. I wish it wasn’t but it was.

I had 150 on at 10/3 for palace, won 800 on scum last beating us last season. Wasn't confident of us beating them either. I fly malta In the morning to straight into the malta kitty it goes. Couldn't give a fuck if people say you shouldn't bet against your team haha atleast I can have a slight lacklustre smile after watching that shite!!!

I had 50 on Palace lifting the cup at 12/5.
Still would have prefffered to win!

Well done Palace I thought they were fucking immense defensively. Romance of cup still alive and kicking.

100% red card but cba using it as a an excuse.

Today was a summary of us this season.

Side to side possession, loads of nice pretty patterns, but very little cutting edge. Didn’t really look like we were going to score. Repeat, repeat, repeat. No plan B, no one willing to do something different.

I was happy to see Pep go for it with an attacking line up.

The problem is if you’re going to play wingers against a low block they need to be able to beat their man or make well timed runs in behind, beating their offside trap, for the slide rule ball and cross.

I like Savinho. I like his kid in a playground style but having watched him for a season he simply isn’t good enough for our side.

Only beats the full back a couple of times a game and his crossing and decision making has been shambolic all season. End product is completely absent. Also soft as shite and thinks everything is a foul. He simply cannot be in this squad next season.

Kev showed today that the club are right to let him go. 3 yards off the free ball all game. Caught dwelling on the ball numerous times and a few bizarre stray passes thrown in. The man is a god but it’s definitely time.

O’Reilly has been a great find this season and has been brilliant for his age. A nipper so I don’t want to dig him out but he definitely isn’t a full back. Positionally, he’s absolutely miles off and he switches off in transitions. I’d definitely keep him but he’s not a full back. We need to go and buy a proper one. Kerkez would be the one for me.

Biggest transfer window for years imo.

Need:

RB
LB
At least 2 CM, probably 3
RW
I’d also do a reset on the goalies.

He was gutless today and might be better suited to la liga instead of coming up against half decent centre halves every week and being outmuscled. Beast my arse

I'm honestly fed up of him. Offers absolutely fuck all. From beast to Carroll in 12 months. Flat track bully who can't even bully anymore. His transfer fee is 2/3 class players who actually want to run their bollocks off. Hopefully Madrid or PSG come knocking.

As for Phil. If he wants to leave, I wouldn't stop him.

VAR was only considering DOGSO, not the fact he handled the ball outside the area, or are you telling me neither Twatwell or the linesman saw the handball itself.
The assistant should definitely have seen the handball as well as the offside for the disallowed goal. He should be the one at fault.

But VAR is allegedly there to correct bad errors and it didn't.

I do wonder if we practice finishing in training. Two golden chances in the second half and one refused to use his right foot and the other was blasted at the goalkeeper.

Absolutely maddening.
I haven’t screamed as loud at the telly as I did when O’Reilly tried to shift it to his left instead of just poking it with his right first time in a long time.

We need a new manager.

Possession, sideways football is dead.

It's shown this season over and over again.

Pep is too stubborn to change his tactics. So expect the same next season.
What do you expect against a packed defence. We couldn't go through the middle, too crowded and they made us play wide, where its much easier to defend. O'Reilly shoukd have scored, Ecerverra should have scored. A penalty save and a keeper who should have been sent off.
Not Peps fault.

They were though, they had a game plan and executed it perfectly.

Did you expect them to come out and play like peak Barca?

They relied on luck at times but even if VAR made the correct decision and sent the keeper off, we’d probably still not have scored.
Not sure that makes them sublime. Barca 2011, City 2018; they were sublime. Palace were very effective.
