Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

I totally agree with you PC. That game v Brighton April 21 when we had already won the league was diabolical. I know many on here don't subscribe to conspiracy theories etc put about by the footballisfuxed blog bloke but over the years he made so very enlightening posts about this ref, plus the guy on Var yesterday and their alleged links to SE Asian betting cartels. Remember that 0-0 v Palace New Year Eve 2018 when we were on fire. Apparently that 'resukt' was known in the betting markets beforehand. When we were playing well, the ref bias against us we coped with - remember Peps ' we did it alone' ( I think he was alluding to all the help Dips got), however now we are toothless their decisions and actions have a real impact. Not sending Henderson off and the delay in the pk being taken being the latest two in a long line of anti City examples.

Apparently? You mean some people on the internet say it was known in the betting markets so it must be true. What bet was known? 0-0? In that case Ederson is in on this conspiracy saving a pen, as are our players not scoring that day. Some proper bollocks you read on here at times.

I used to crawl on my hands and knees with the chaps on my back in papooses to the match when they were tiny. Spent much of the match in the toilet changing nappies, though whatever the adversity they were going to grow up blues.
It's not too late to disown your Leeds-supporting offspring and beg the great unwashed of bluemoon for forgiveness...
I had better not reveal that I once took him to Elland Road for his birthday.

Yes. And I'm reading some now....

10 past 5 on a Sunday afternoon and just back from that there big London town and another great weekend following the blues. Eight of us went down together, and we met some good people over the weekend and put names to new and some old faces on the day itself. The sun shone down on the righteous blues but unfortunatley it wasn't to be. I think we all had that feeling deep down going into the game and I can't begrudge the Palace fans. We had a great time at Selhurst many years ago the weekend before they played the rags at Wembley when thousands went down as Blues brothers. I've still got a Palace hat from that day I swapped something for. Tried telling a Palace fan about it but it was lost on him. Good luck to them.

Today we got up and all of us had the wembley blues but after breakfast and a canal boat trip from Batchworth Lock organised by the great team at Rickmansworth Waterways Trust the day looked brighter. A beautiful walk along the canal where there was a floating market and festival being held with food, cakes, beer and lots of happy smiling faces and it cheered us all up. The Morris dancing by the canalside was bewitching English folklore at its finest from rural hamlets and villages akin to a scene from 'The Wicker Man'.

Typical City being the only downside of a great weekend. We've all been here before and we'll all be here again. Wouldn't change it for the world. Lets do it all again on tuesday night. Cityyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Did one long ball over the top to Haaland today and it caused havoc and should have resulted in their keeper being sent off.

No idea why we don’t do it more. I know there’s hardly ever any space but when there is, do it. Rather than walking with it while they get back into position.
Sam Allardyce likes this post....

Have we had any confirmation yet whether Marmoush was chosen pre match to take a pen, or whether Haaland gave it up there and then in the moment?

Personally I see both as problematic (should he start if he's mentally not there to take a pen), but the latter would be very disappointing.
Would be interesting to know.

If Erl did give it up - and in post-match Pep said that he didn't know what went on, so suggesting that it wasn't arranged that Omar would take them before the game - I'd be disappointed, but on the other hand if it was because he'd been affected/angered by the inordinate delay(which it definitely looked like), and knew that his head wasn't right to take it, you could argue that it took more courage to let Omar have it, with the fallout that would inevitably follow?

I'd still just liked to have seen him put his foot through it...

Well played Palace. You deserved the win. City had the chances to equalise and win the game but fluffed it. I've gone from miffed yesterday to mild acceptance today and I'm actually pleased for the Palace fans. That's because I remember Citys 1st trophy in recent times...the fa cup in 2011. I remember going for a walk after & thinking god we've done it. For 42years I had been telling every Utd fan who goaded me that before I die City will win something. I haven’t forgotten where I've come from and of course being a blue I hope we win everything every season. But it's unrealistic. Referee mistakes, injuries & competition from others make it so. Anyway well done Palace and I hope the fans have a great big party because that's what City did and its nice to see others getting on as well as seeing my own club grow and be successful.

I hate football and I love football
It is what it is
But we are on here because of football
Love City

I think there's something to this. I'm optimistic and think Pep will come back furious and fighting next season, but it's 2 seasons where it feels like we have drifted, got lucky last year in the league, and have got major decisions in the market/squad wrong while we assumed Pep would leave. It makes me want to choke on my own vomit, but it feels closer to United in 2001 than United in 2013. But Pep needs to build another great team now with a completely different philosophy. No tinkering.
I hope and pray he can do it but on this downcast Sunday and with two tricking matches coming up next week I'm not sure he will.

There's some right entitled twats in all fanbases. I didnt think it would be the same with City given our history and seeing united be that.
I do find this ‘entitled’ comment often made to be interesting. It could mean that some of us expect us to win all the time which is clearly not possible. However, it could also mean living in the past as we accuse others of.

It gets dropped to whichever team is in possession.
Yes I guess i didn’t call that quite right. The problem of course is it’s stopped the opposition can regroup no bother you get the ball back generally not near where the initial threat was and it’s all pretty rubbish and the ‘bluff’ worked a treat. It’s got to a point now it’s very much gamesmanship.
