Crystal Palace (N) | FA Cup Final | Post Match Thread

City are a side in transition. The aging players who served us so well are out of the door or moving through it. We haven't managed their replacement well this time, instead we kept the old side together and went for the 4th title back to back. Now that side is breaking up.

Fans want to see City win, and easy solutions. It isn't easy. And even if you do rebuild a side, Cup Finals can still be lost. They turn on pens., sending offs etc. We didn't get the breaks at Wembley and we couldn't find the passes to unlock a determined opposition. That's largely on KDB, and Savinho. Savinho might develop. Foden came on and did even worse than Savinho on the right. KDB is at the end of his career. It was predictable. I don't think many City fans expected City to blow Palace away. I thought we'd edge it.
The game was won or lost on who scored the first goal. It was them, unfortunately. Had it been us they would have had to come out to play. At the Etihad after scoring they continued to attack us. There manager wasn't going to do that again.

According to Pep's comments today, then - does he think that we lost a Community Shield semi-final on Saturday?

Pretty pathetic to crow about winning a 2-horse race...

Lol, it is silverware, but I think Peps referring to how "massive" the media say it is when someone beats us in it.

I think he's fucking fuming and quite rightly. He will be fucking desperate to get this season done with. He will be angry about how much praise Palace have gotten for beating us, how much shit we have had for our decline and how for four years despite all we have achieved we have had barely any fucking praise.

He isn't used to this. With Barca and Bayern when it's bad you know about it but when it's good it's screamed from the rooftops. He saw with the charges what it is like in this country, how corrupt and biased towards the red shirts it is. But I think he is seeing once again just what we are up against and he is fucked off with it.

So fuck the press asking about our shit season when only three teams have won anything. His message is, why don't you ask them why they've been so shit too? At least we have a cabinet full of trophies from the past four years to look back on whilst we battle for top 5.

Edit - not sure I said fuck enough.

Not sure you did, Peps won more pl titles with us than you said fck in that rant.

Just totally devoid of any excitement or tempo. Considering we were 1-0 down yesterday the speed at which we played was appalling. I don't know any team in a final who'd be so insipid with 60 minutes left.

Like I said we don't play with any risk or tempo. Everything is safe and backwards. We played with two wingers yesterday yet the midfielders were totally afraid to support them. The speed at which we passed the ball was dire. You don't win games playing like that and we haven't been able to up the tempo all season.
Insipid team in a final you say.
Spuds definitely were, in a Champions League final at that!

Sorry if someone else has posted this, it’s hard reading this thread after what happened, but I was convinced at the time, Haaland giving Marmoush the penalty was planned, as the goalie would have been expecting Erling to take it and studied his style more,
Henderson said he knew which way Marmoush was going as he had studied him too

This'll get your blood boiling. The VAR Assistant for the FA Cup was Darren Cann who played for Crystal Palace as a youth player. The VAR official was Jarred Gillet is a self confessed Liverpool fan and works for the Liverpool FA...make of that what you will.
Bez. You're slow to the party.
How about couple of seasons ago we drew Palace in the 4th round of the FA Cup.
Can you guess who was named as a lino in that game ?
It took City fans to point out he'd been a Palace player before the fuckwits withdrew him stating in was an admin error.
The strange thing is City didn't seem to be arsed.

Henderson said he knew which way Marmoush was going as he had studied him too
You'd think he would have studied all potential takers for a possible penalty shootout.
Maybe we should have subbed on Echeverri and got him to take it as he was the one who might not have been on his radar!

After the game Henderson said he knew where Mamoush was going to put it but would have had no idea if Haaland had

Henderson said he knew which way Marmoush was going as he had studied him too
Funnily enough I switch over whenever it’s mentioned on the telly, I haven’t seen anything related to the match since I got back, I commented because I was surprised people on here had said Erling was nervous so he didn’t take it, the goalie saying that after the match doesn’t really mean anything to what I thought at the time of the penalty being taken.
Love your location by the way,

The Henderson handball is getting as much media coverage as the result. The ref and his biased VAR colleagues - been seen all over the planet as incompetent or bent.
