Crystal Palace PL (H) Post match thread

First time I've heard any boos for the team yesterday for a long time. I understand why some chose to vent their feelings that way. But the familiar rush in large numbers for the exits with 15 minutes of time to play is something that has been a City trait for years and years and will never disappear.

I think those doing it now are the kids of those who used to do it at Maine Road.

City have things that need sorting but, as ever, the overreaction and stupidity that surfaces when things don’t go well are mind boggling.

No team has ever won four English top flight championships in row and that is for very good reasons. The league is tougher at the moment that it has been, although City’s problems are more within, but many of the same players have been involved in tough scraps to win three league titles in a row…

They had far too short a break in the summer. If they are mentally tired, I would not blame them. However, that is just another reason to break with tradition and freshen the squad up in January.

Return of the Happy Flowers team.

Not ruthless, lackadaisical, going through the motions and powderpuff attempts on goal.

Waiting for these results to keep the team into gear. Maybe the lack of playing time of the new players will be a kick up the arse to the transfer team too.

I can't believe the usual hair shirts have convinced themselves the team was in any way booed.
It was for the officiating, the result and the way we got our pockets picked somewhat undeservedly.

Fairly obvious the boos were for the officials after a 95th minute penalty. I agree with you, people suggesting otherwise have an agenda. People have every right to be frustrated with recent performances but this team and manager will never be booed for a few below par performances.

Feels like we lost to me.
Teams that play negatively are always an achilles heel for us. They let us dominate possession, frustrated us off the ball, and took their chances when they came. I didn't think Palace played badly at all. I think they were very crafty yesterday. I just wish we were quicker to counter.

I usually feel better a day after but today I don’t.

We are at a real cross roads.

Since Rodri’s red card
Tactics poor
Game management poor
Leadership poor
Bench poor
Players energy poor
Recruitment piss poor
Use of subs poor
Finishing poor
Attitude poor

Kev coming back won’t fix what’s going on. We need to replace Phillips, Kova & Nunes & if Alvarez doesn’t wake up him too.

Be happy with top 4 & a clear out is summer
A lot on here seem to think Kev is going to come back and then we'll go on some huge run to win the league again...its just utter nonsense, even if we did the league could be gone before he kicks a ball with Everton and Newcastle away in our next 3 league games. We're already at the stage of not being able to afford to drop another point.

Yep, a few really need to manage their own expectations of Kev's return.

The boos were for the ref surely?

Maybe the club could use their massive resources to make getting away from the ground less of a nightmare. Its easy to slag early leavers but if you listen to some of them those 15 minutes make almost a 2 hour difference in what time they get home. Its not like people pay big money for a season ticket then choose to miss 15% of the football because they lose attention after 75 minutes is it?

For this season alone Kev is still a valuable player. Still a player who brings something different to the team and can and will take off some of the pressure on our current attacking players. Dare I say it but it will be like a new signing even if we have to ease him back into contention. Other than the apparent Barco signing I don't see us going into the January transfer market.

I have only left early average once per season when I've really had to but because they close the roads on full time 5 mins won't do it, has to be 10 -15 mins otherwise your snookered especially for an foc.
The home fans should get priority and away fans kept in if necessary not priority bussed away whilst everyone waits. Not fair, surprised there aren't more complaints.

How many fuckin times does it have to be said????
Gundogan's missus did NOT like living in Manchester.
SHE wanted to move to Spain
HE wanted to make his wife happy.
THEY decided to move to Spain.
Why the fuck do people go on about 'letting Gundogan go'??
He fucking wanted to go!!!
Same with Palmer and Marhez
We won't keep a player that doesn't want to be here.

what did Pep have to say ?

We drew because we can't defend. It seem every time a team has an attack it highly likely they will score or create a very dangerous opportunity. It's about time our coaches sorted this out its been going on for weeks now.
I think there's a contradiction in what you say. We've defended magnificently from the front for years and years and tended to snuff-out the park the bus and hope for something on the break teams. You say 'We can't defend........... it's been going on for weeks now'. What's happening is the 'weeks' you describe where we've dropped below our monstrously high standards. Although a week is a long time in politics, our recent defensive lapse is the width of a page in a very thick book. It's perfectly normal and natural and has happened to each and every legendary team in the history of football. To me, it would be seriously weird if these temporary lapses didn't happen. We play risk and reward footy in the pursuit of glory - it's in our DNA - we pass the ball to players being marked and on the edge of our box we pass the ball inches from opposing players - 99.9 per cent of the time. Under Pep we will never be a play it safe team. If you want a play it safe, park the bus and hope for something on the break coach, you hire Maureen, Poch or Simeone. If you want a bit of both, you hire Klopp. If you want to see beautiful football and trophies that none of us ever dared dream about, you bring in Pep. Make no mistake, Pep is the greatest coach in the history of football anywhere on the planet.
