Crystal Palace Thread - 2021/22

In the tunnel cam during one of our games, Hodgson walked out on to the pitch, before he came back in, he wiped his feet before walking back down the tunnel. Silly little thing to remember but at time thought what a well mannered gent. As opposed to some of the disrectful herberts, like that Jar Jar Ferdinand just chucking his water bottle on the floor for someone else to clean up, wonky mouthed twunt.

An innoffensive sort of bloke.
Football style, mostly cautious but could be effective.
He will probably get a job back in football.
Good luck to him.

Top bloke but will be remembered for getting Harry Kane to take corners at an international tournament.

He was the best striker of the ball in 11 players on the pitch.
Harry wasn't scoring goals, he had only one all season at the time. So you want the best deliverer of the ball taking corners because we thought we had a few other players who were good at attacking the ball in the area." Hodgson said via The Express.
"Had we had someone else on corners and Harry in the middle, it wouldn't have made one ha'p'orth of difference to our results.

We had two big centre backs who have chipped in with goals before and two other strikers on the pitch.

It was much dafter to pick the formation he did against Iceland instead of sticking to his usual tactics which matched up with theirs and beating them with the quality of players at our disposal.

Do you remember when Chelsea played at ours without Lampard and Drogba took all the corners?

Same reason.

Can't make my mind up about him. I always think Palace should be higher than they are but they're pretty well organised. Need someone who can give them a bit more.

Also seems such a nice guy but there are a lot of whispers about him and some dodgy characters in the game. There's supposed to be some nefarious connection between him, the agent John Colquhoun and Jon Moss.

So England got knocked out the tournament with the Kane tactic going to shit and we beat Chelsea when they had Drogba taking corners. So ultimately 2 ridiculous decisions, irrespective of how well they could kick a ball.

Nice cushy job with BBC or ITV for the Euros to soften the blow I'm guessing.
Soften the blow of retiring at 74 after a life of highly paid jobs in football in a sport you love? He wasnt sacked, though being sacked is better than finishing your contract
