Perhaps there are alternatives to dictatorships and gangsters.
I haven't been there once, let alone twice, so obviously can't speak for the vast majority of Cubans but maybe they'd welcome the opportunity to have democratic elections and make their own choice.
They actually do have elections at local, regional and national level for who will represent each district in the 609 seat parliament.
Though a one party state those serving are chosen by the people who are afforded the right to vote for candidates.
Their are 2-3 official non party groups that can stand as opposing representatives in the community with two at the last ballots, though they have never won.
Campaigning is not allowed however.
Basically it is similar to the internal elections most political parties have, where representatives MPs, leaders are chosen withing the party, like the choosimg of labours NEC and other committees
You can vote but are limited to the choice of ideology.
