Cup final loss against Wigan V cup final loss against Spurs

Spurs by a landslide, especially after we totally outplayed them the first day.. Still hate 'em to this day. And that stupid TV ad with Ardiles and Villa...ugh.

Wigan I was disappointed but didn't mind so much. Probably with me being 30 years older and the recent success we had, it wasn't so bad. Plus I don't begrudge Wigan their moment in the sun.

I'd agree with all of that. (And how I hated that fucking song.)

Met some Wigan lads in the pub before the game. Their take on the day was that it was a cracking day out, they knew they would probably get turned over but there was always a chance and anything can happen. Losing to them hurt because it was a cup final but had it been any other team than us they were playing I would have wanted them to win.

Spurs....although the weekend in London before the first game was a cracker....
Long drive home on the Thursday and up for work the next day was a killer....

Always hated the mouthy cockney twats since....

Wigan is just an after thought.

Went to final and replay v spurs and was devastated after we lost, just turned 18,
it was my first time at Wembley and found out its no place for losers! over the years I
consoled myself in the knowledge it was a belting game at least.
Wigan was much worse for me,everything was shite, weather, support, mancini news, performance of team
was worse than shite and it still rankles badly.
Spent the night drinking in London and was that fed up drank myself sober. Worst day of the season by miles.

Went to the first game in 81 but not the replay, school would have blacklisted me if I wasn't on it already! Watched it on tv and was devastated when we lost. Just seems to be something about certain childhood memories and also the rarity of us reaching a cup final, I was too young to remember 69. The scars are slowly healing :)

Wigan defeat nowhere near as bad - passage of time, maybe the fact that we won it in 2011, we'd won the league, also a couple of very good friends who are Wigan fans and followed them from their days at Springfield Park, I was happy for them & had a great drunken meeting with them afterwards. If it had been one or two other teams it would have hurt a hell of a lot more.

I told a crying kid after wigan ,that we would be back very soon,i hope we turn up this time

Wigan battered us on the day and they were a small team who will never get there again. No problem with the pie eaters taking the glory that day, we live to fight another season.

I was happy for Wigan, thought they deserved it, clapped their name being read out and then they booed our name being read out.

Made their relegation easier to enjoy.

Wigan hurt far more. Mainly due to be being a thought in my dads cock and being there to witness the Wigan debacle. Booked a travel lodge, bought a bottle of £30 champagne expecting to celebrate another trophy. Ended up fucking off back to said hotel and drinking fucking Fosters myself. Fucking forgot to lift the champagne when booking out. At least Dave's legs were happy.

I only went to the Saturday game in the 81 game an watched the replay on TV. I don't recall being too gutted at that age.

Last year I was fucking fuming at the total unprofessional performance from the players and the Mancini story leaking.

It was a very poor day for me.

I went to both 81 matches and have suffered the endless replays of that goal (Corrigan dive on the ball please) and was hurt that Maccers goal was lost to history. As for last year I was pleased for Wigan but share exactly the same sentiment about City as above. As fans we were the only blues to turn up and that still hurts.

i was at all 3 games and the wigan game was by far the worst loss.

nobody gave us much hope v spurs but we were overwhelming favourites v wigan. I still can't get my head round that loss.
