I don't think it is asking to much to just say "Those on the cup direct scheme, we will be taking money out from Wednesday" It gives you a little warning to sort your finances out if things are tight.
They announced the news at 4.48pm on Friday, 18 mins after the banks had closed and with no opportunity to use the bank until Tuesday because of the bank holiday. Poor planning imo.
It's not about not affording to be on the scheme, it's just asking for a date when money will be taken out.
I understand that everyones personal financial situation is different. However if your personal finances can't cope with an unexpected £25 being debited from the account then you really shouldn't have signed up for a scheme which states they will take the money when they feel like it. As soon as the fixtures were released you should have been prepared for this to happen.
The point of this scheme is there is no hassle to it, you sign up, they take the money your card is activated. However despite this there are always some people who are never happy!
It's not £25, with my family it's close to £100.
I still don't think it's too much trouble to give a date when they will start taking it out, not the exact date just a general starting day.
That's exactly what should happen. They're quick to email me shit from the shop even though I've pressed the "UNSUBSCRIBE" button eight times and emailed them telling themGStar said:Don't think there's any argument against an automated message to warn that payment will be taken in 7 days.

I want to be taken off their mailing lists (I hate junk mail). Yet they still keep on sending me the emails!
I get paid on the 15th and a few of my mates work for themselves so don't have a pay date, but everyone else I know gets paid on the last day of the month and City took the money two days before this with no warning. Just a simple text or email to say "we will be taking the money for XXX game in the XXX cup in two days time. Ensure you have funds available". Because it's not like amy other direct debits that people know exactly the date in which they'll come out!

But I think we were all suprised that the tickets were so cheap, £25 is a bargain, I was expecting £45. If you've got a whole family on there for £100 thats got to be 2 adults and 3 children at the very least. If £100 is causing you so much trouble I am suprised you signed up for the scheme!
It seemed pretty obvious after the fixtures were released the money would be taken out for the first home game pretty quickly so really you should have been prepared for this. As soon as it was announced the first city home game was in less than 3 weeks you should have expected the money to be debited.
I know its annoying for people with less money but anyone with financial problems is a fool if they sign up for a scheme which says the club can debit an unspecified amount of money from their account at will!
Yes that's right. I know Owen Hargreaves has signed, I know I can get a discount at the shop with my SC; I don't need 5 emails a week telling me. But because there is no fixed date that the club will take out the money for tickets I'd like a text to my phone telling me in advance when they're going to take it. Not much to ask, at all!

-- Sat Sep 03, 2011 8:09 am --

el bee said:danburge82 said:That's exactly what should happen. So you don't want E-Mails from City unless they're telling you they are going to take some money out of your account - which you already knew they were going to do because you signed up for them to do just that?
I personally only want an E-mail (or text) confirming my seats have been purchased, it's all I expected and all I need. I signed up for the cup schemes to save a few quid and a lot of hastle, the added points, priority etc are a bonus.
It hasn't and wont cause me a problem. I had the money in my account and almost always will do. But there might be unforseen circumstances (car being towed costs up to £300, for example) or the month might come where you have to pay for your holiday (could be £2000) and all that City should do is just text you "Manchester City will debit your account with £XXX for the XXX Cup game against XXXXX XXXXX FC in two days time". And then you'll think, 'shit yeah I best put £XXX in my account so I have enough in, nice one City, saved my a lot of myther there!'goater1978 said:But the t's & c's said they wouldn't give you any notice. If that caused you a problem you should not have signed up. The whole scheme is pretty clear....

It's just good customer service. If I worked for City I would make sure this was in place and as a fan, if I received it, i'd be pleased and impressed! It's not a difficult thing. Amazon email me two emails about delivery and payment. I can also navigate their site to change payment details infinately more easily than I can with City.
If you log on to 'tickets and membership' then sign in to your account by clicking on tickets and then 'my account'simonk said:where/how do I sign up for the FA cup scheme?
