I know I started all this with my " spaz", post and whilst I was merely mocking tevez and his mental capacity to see how he was hurting city and making us look like idiots , I do accept I crossed the line in my attempt at humour .

I apologized quicky and why Thaiskin decided to create a. Seperate thread is his decision , its also unwarranted ,

I do realise I made references that correctly were frowned upont and I do respect people who work with quite frankly some remarkable but affected people whos hearts are pure and can teach us a lesson or two in humility .

The hush police are just as guilty , having recently recovered from thyroid cancer it became obvious noone was allowed to say " cancer _ " in my company , family and freinds got offended on my behalf ,

I was the preverbial ", I know someone with cancer ", buddy

I was immature and crass , I acknowledge that. And I am sorry , but please will people stop getting offended on other people behalf .

My mates called me radiation x and dead man walking which I enjoyed as it means nothing changed , now when I say spaz or idiot its not a slight on people who are wrongly referred to by those terms but a jovial dig as old as time .

Being offended is part of life ..and life is diverse .

Thing is Corky when I was growing up use of the word "spastic" was substituted with "joey" meant the same shit, nowadays I think spastic (or versions thereof) are having a sort of renaissance and appear to be more socially acceptable (albeit probably with younger people and not universally) facebook for example is full of McSpastic groups and the such.

Agree with the op.....have pm'd a couple of people here in the past, over using the word 'idiot'....and to be fair to both, they apologised and said wouldn't do it again....

Not just because of, but a big part being that I know a poster and his son who come on here regularly and have done so for many years, and his daughter has the syndrome that used to be called 'Mongolism' (Downs now) and know for a fact it does 'get' to them both seeing it used so....

We Blues are above this kinda thing surely....?

we had a similar debate in the gay thread the other week, i think the problem is that everyone has different sensibilities and different generations see different words to mean different things, as someone mentioned earlier in the 80's the word joey was used quite alot because of joey deakin on blue peter, this became common usage and most had no idea why joey was used.

everyone has their own line they wont cross but it is different for everyone, the world would be a poorer place without a certain amount of non pc behaviour
