D Day anniversary

I did like the tale of how the Wren mapmaker who was given the Legion d'Honneur got there.

Aged 103. she apparently said they'd have to send a helicopter or she couldn't get there.

A short while later, "we've got a helicopter".

Macron certainly seems to understand the importance to all concerned of the presentations.

when I said he hid the finger I assume he wasn't hiding it around the set on Star Trek and just hold his hand so it wasn't in shot - if you think about it thats sad as it was a war wound and nothing to be ashamed of.
That’s so true .. I think we have a better understanding now of what they went through ( apart from a certain prime minister) and there’s nothing to be ashamed of thankfully in this day and age.

I’ve just looked at next year’s public holidays and there’s nothing for May 8th ?
It wouldn’t be hard to shift a bank holiday in May for this surely ? 80 years for VE Day this must be sorted out there won’t be many left of those who served sadly.
Needs bringing up with any political cronies we come across in the next few weeks.

Would not 2nd September be more appropriate? As usual those who were fighting in the far East are not fully recognised or celebrated.
