As Sean said, Roberts are by far the best, my dad has a decent one, I'll try and find out the model number for you.

Why are Roberts ''bar far best'', all DAB radios are digital receivers, is this like people buying super insulated, gold HDMI leads?

That's like saying all cars get you from A to B so why are Ferrari's better than Morris Minors? Bit of a silly statement.

I asked a genuine question, perhaps you could facilitate an answer rather than getting touchy.

The difference between a Ferrari and a Morris Minor are clear.

The difference between two digital receivers, to me at least, are not?

I included the reference to HDMI (digital) leads because the basic leads do exactly the same job as the more expensive ones but people continue to buy the bullshit given to them by sales persons.

Used to have a philips hand held DAB a few years ago. The signal always was rubbish, and it cost a fortune in batteries. probably much better ones out now though

I have the Pure unit and very impressed with it. Battery life is good, reception is always great and you can flick back to FM if required.

I use it for commentary when at City, works fine.

I can only say that my Roberts DAB has better sound quality than two PURE or Panasonic and the built in battery recharger is great and battery life is long. Also the Roberts picks up more stations and better reception.....I am not an expert.

Given that the limiting factor in appreciation of the sound is your hearing, and given that hearing depreciates rapidly as you become adult, apart from the 'I paid more than you-hoo' angle there's no tangible difference between roberts and any other radio's. Getting back to the puerile comparison between cars - think all cars mechanically restricted to 0 to 60mph in 15 seconds, and with a mechanically restricted 60mph upper speed limit and then think about what tangible advantage a Ferrari might have over a Morris Minor in such circumstances? Answer? Sweet FA old bean . . that is of course apart from the 'I paid more than you-hoo' value mentioned earlier.

Have got the Roberts Sports DAB II. No complaints at all. Battery last ages, and charges up pretty fast. Its a decent size. The headphones and speaker are pretty good (the speaker is relatively loud too). Think it was about £80 at the time, but I'm sure it will be less now.

I have the Pure one. It is my favourite thing in the world. My friend bought a Roberts and his was a lot more fiddly to use than the Pure one.
