Daft question?

My laptop has told me to 'CONSIDER CHANGING MY BATTERY'.
The little icon in the task bar, has a red cross through it, i have e-mailed my support but they haven't got back to me yet.

So tech wizards of bluemoon, will i be able to continue with the mains charger powering it, or will it just give out?

Sensible answers are welcome too...

I think its an automated message that comes when the computer detects that the battery is not performing to optimum levels. You can continue using it, but you may notice that the it holds the charge for a little less longer. Anyway, my laptop battery shows no such message, and yet from having about 1.5 hours of backup when i bought it, it now gets completely discharged in about 15 minutes

Same happened to my old Dell laptop. Was getting warnings for a while and then the charge started dropping, got the point where the battery never held any charge, if I knocked or unplugged the power lead it died. Ended up buying a new battery for Dell wich cost an arm and a leg.

If you use it plugged in to the mains all the time it will be fine, but eventually you will want to use it ion battery power and you will be screwed.

From memory I think the battery cost about £180 from Dell, laptop was about 3 years old, so by then the laptop was probrably not worth much more than the new battery!

Ah, was just about to warn you, tell lad at work not to use laptop-battery-shop.co.uk for your replacement.

Got a defective battery from them. They sent a new one, which is okay. The problem is the bastards stalled me to do this that and the otherbefore returning it and then did the same again whilst they did their investigation so that it was outside the time when I could get a paypal refund. Then they wouldn't reimburse me for the return postage of the damaged goods, which is illegal. So their name is mud with me.
