Famously, "when this sign is under water, it's unsafe to cross the river".

I was put in mind of this by the BBC alert for when Adobe stop servicing Flash next year.
"You’ll only see this message if your device is using Flash technology to play BBC content. If you don’t see the message, you don’t need to do anything."

When I was near the Isle of Skye there was a sign that said ' Don't throw stones at this sign'.

Not the sign itself but the classic graffiti on the prostate cancer sign.

The sign read: “thousands of men will die every year from stubbornness”

Someone graffitied underneath: “no we won’t”

It still cracks me up now.

I attended an NHS outreach clinic, where the admin obviously nothing much to do. They had covered every square inch of the walls with computer produced signs like "Patients must not wait here for x rays"...."Blood Tests taken every day".
The classic was a corridor with two tables with a slight gap between them and a bin placed below the gap. On the wall above the gap was a notice:
" Spitting in this Bin is Forbidden"
Wtf?
