Bollocks Hughes swerved meetings, he said himself he's been trying to get Sturridge signed up and that he should have been signed up before Hughes joined the club
blueonblue said:Its been done to death on here about Danny, but one more time for the record.
He was offered silly money as a 15 year old by Chelsea, who were willing to pay us £3 million, and turned it down flat to stay with us.
He went through the period with both SP and Sven where he listened to the advice to keep working and promised a contract equal to the other accademy graduates as he got into the first team sqaud.
Sven had arranged the start of talks, but left..............And then came Hughes.
Hughes swerved meetings, then put it about he wasnt sure Danny was all that, and offered a slightly improved contract nowhere near what other players had moved up were getting.
Danny said no thanks, someone then started feeding the media the sh*te, Funny that its always about players that Hughes has fell out with.....I wonder who it is?..........please notice that nowhere did Hughes ever try to clarify what he knew to be rubbish,
Then the sh*t started to fly, to say the accademy staff were unhappy is an understatement, within the club various people tried to sort out the mess caused by Hughes wanting to be seen as the manager fighting greedy players on behalve of the fans.
There was a final offer, but only because Hughes was trying to save face by this time, even putting him in the team and trying to be all matey................To little far to late, it was never about money.
Am I missing something? In all the stories planted by Ireland's agent on Monday the terms of his new contract offer were included, i.e. "Ireland...has been offered a new five-year deal with a sliding pay scale, starting off with a weekly salary of £60,000, rising to £70,000 after the first year and then £80,000 in a further 12 months."Dubai Blue said:You've just posted comments that completely back me up. Where has Stevie mentioned anything about money? How is he holding the club to ransom? He's said he wants a contract to sign, that's all.twinkletoes said:It suits your argument to believe that about Sturridge but nothing has been mentioned apart from money.
According to the Daily Mirror, Ireland stated, "We're nowhere with the contract, to be honest, we're still a long way off. Talks have barely started.
"I don't know what's going to happen and if I'm going to sign or not sign. It's out of my hands right now, it's up to the club, not me.
"It's getting to the stage now where I don't know if I'm going to be signing or not. I think I've done enough this year, let my football do the talking.
"The club haven't really made an offer yet. If they make one great - if not, I've got two years left."
blueonblue said:And where did you get this that Elano is a trouble maker?, or not pulling his finger out?.............could it be the media by any chance, just after Hughes was looking for somebody else to blame?.
Elano`s display V Hamburg shows he wants to be at the club, his displays when played correctly can not be faulted, he did make it known he was not being played where he could be effective........and proved right by the way, as did his veiw that Jo was not a poor player, rather that the way the team was being played did him no favors...........seen Jo play for everton have you?, everything numpty said he could not do, he`s doing.
