From what I hear he has rejected 30k a week and is demanding 60k.

Also, his dad is his agent and is the reason hes holding out for so much money.

I want the lad to stay but dont like seeing young kids pick up that much money before they hit the big time.
Maybe if we had a more rewarding contract that see's him gain more money from goals, etc. Dont know really but think this would be for the better.

The thing is, he isnt likely to get 60grand a week anywhere at the moment so he's not really in a position to negotiate on purely financial terms. There are teams in the league who could offer him more 1st team games, most likely the poorer teams in the league, and there are teams who can offer him more chance of trophies/better league positions etc, 'big4', Villa, Everton etc but they're unlikely/unable to offer him upwards of 30grand a week.

The thing is, he isnt likely to get 60grand a week anywhere at the moment so he's not really in a position to negotiate on purely financial terms. Weren't Chelsea interested a while back. If he doesnt sign up, can't he leave on a free? If he does you'll find a handful of clubs willing to gamble on £50k a week I reckon.

I'm not 100% sure how it works but I think that with him being under 21 (25?) we'd be due some compensation even if he was out of contract but I could be wrong.

I think if it came down to it, with Chelsea, we'd have to stop and take stock. If Danny thinks, at that point, he'd get more of a look in at Chelsea then it'd either suggest we'd bought some shit hot talent or Hughes is playing Bellamy every week at the expense of Danny lol

For what it's worth I think Danny will get a fair few games between now and the end of the season, his goals/assists to games played ratio must be fucking great! I mean I can only think of a few starts he's made but I can think straight away of 3 goals he's scored and 4 or 5 assists.
 
He always makes an impact, the kid is class. He will sign contract at city. Chelsea and Villa want him.

He'd be stupid to sign for Chelsea but you cant help but imagine him Abonga whatever he's called and Young all lining up in a Villa shirt, I want him to stay though obviously.

He's been doing precisely that with Vass !!
 
what a player he could be. dont see why he would go to chelsea and get no games. villa could be a threat but he is better off with robinho than ashley young etc. hope he signs soon to stop me worrying.

Yeah but he's been playing Vass wide right, messing the midfield up (SWP/Elano) more than anything. Point taken though as he's been playing Benji instead lol but let's just hope yesterdays performance will make Hughes think. Sturridge obviously wants it and on his day he can do it, he's not 100% ready yet and he isnt the answer to all our problems but he's hungry for goals, has shown he can also create chances for others and wont hide so he's got to be taken seriously.

Also looks like it's finally sinking in that he's a better impact player/sub than Evans will ever be. Agree he's not the finished article but very few are at 19 years old. It's a worry he's not put pen to paper yet. Any compo for being under a certain age will never be worth his true value.
 
Not sure if I believe this...30k is plenty for a kid, 60k is ridiculous and if that's what he wants we should tell him to go play for someone else. Like TMQ says he won't get anywhere near 60k anywhere.

Chelsea would probably baulk at pay 60 grand a week to an unproven youngster and tbh I can't see Villa even matching our 30 grand offer.

Yep that was my original point. There's only a few teams capable of paying that money, we're one of them, so until those teams start offering him that amount then really he isnt in a position to negotiate. Besides it's most likely a load of rumours and very little truth, failing that he's trying his luck and fair play to him we'd all do the same but theres nothing to say he wont accept 30 a week :)
