City and Darlington FC
Dear All,

Thought I should post this, any help for them would be appreciated, could people in the know get it to the Club in some way?

As well as a great gesture think it would be great PR for City!

Darlington 1883, a group of businessmen, have offered the people of Darlington a proposal. We must raise £750,000 by 30th April in £100 shares. The first £250,000 of shares will be 2-for-1. This is where you would buy one share worth £100 and get another one for free. All in all we need 10,000 share's so we survive. This fundraising is being done through a website called CrowdCube. This is where people can by a £100 share in DFC.

The main aim of this project is to provide the long term sustainability of Darlington FC. Too many times have we been 'shafted' by chairmen and their ego's, it's about time the fans owned our club. The future is in our hands.

For those who simply cannot afford a £100 share they can donate any money to a PayPal account on Darlo Uncovered. (The Darlo forum.) Thereby the money being turned into shares. This is where we need you guys.

I'm not asking for you lot to buy a share, just simply donate to the PayPal address below. You do not have to worry about losing any of your money either. If we do not reach our target then everyone will get their money back. Simples.

Football United.

Thanks, Ben.

No , because if the club get involved then Pompey will come calling. Then Rangers then any other club that gets into financial trouble. Nice Gesture but an unforeseeable gesture.

I would contribute, but just gave my last £200 to FC United's ''Community Share'' scheme ;)

Been watching the Darlington situation and to be honest, wouldn't the club just be better off folding and a fans club rising from the ashes? Yes it means dropping down a couple of leagues but clubs like Halifax and Chester are doing very well on and off the pitch having done that. To an outsider it seems like throwing good money away that could be used to form the new club. How long will the £750K last until the wolf is knocking on the door again?
I'm sure this has been considered and would be interested in how far this approach was discussed.
Of course, having a 25,000 stadium doesn't help matters either and would a new club play there? If not, then where?
Best wishes either way

It will be sad to see Darlo finally go but why should City and their supporters bail them out. Recently a lot of Northern League teams held collections to help Darlo but when a charity match was arranged to help Easington, who were about to go under, guess how much support they received from Darlo fans. Correct, if you guessed nil. Why do Darlo want everyone and their dog to help them but are unwilling to help others in need. Teams like Darlo and Pompey should just be let die gracefully as i have the feeling that in another year or so they will be back in the same situation.

Mis-management over years and lack of any real local support has led to this situation. Live within your means and this would never happen.

Sorry just laid out my last £250 on a Sq ft of land in Eastland’s.
Perhaps you could ask again in February as I have been assured my investment will be worth thousands at this time....

All joking aside, good luck with your quest and if you do come through it remember to do other teams a good turn should they need it in the future...

There are much more things more important than a greedy football club. Players wage demands are killing the sport as well as all the underhand bungs and payments. I would rather give money to homeless people or charity.

I went to darlo, and i cant remember them singing 'your not famous anymore',and other such crap to us.unlike some of the others that have come calling for help,on here (adswood cunty etc.),and even at maine road (oldham) rattling buckets full of change in your face 'please help the latics' (even though they were calling city shit until the previous year).
I might give them a bit of a donation, cant say as im rolling in money but every little helps.I wouldnt say we were a very well run club for many years but we got lucky. Unless someone corrects me,and they were singing abuse to us.....then they can do one aswell

They've managed to raise over £230,000 & have around 60 days to find the last £20,000 that will enable them to pay of the footballing debts.

The next phase will see them raising funds to pay of the non-footballing debts.

If the full allocation is taken then the club will have £500,000 in funds to run the club.
