Just a name that came into my head today which made me realise how far we have came. He was absolutely rapid and torn up the Championship, but was one of those players who could never make the step up to the premiership, some would argue like Ali B.

Do people remember him fondly on here? I've never known fully whether people regard him as a success or failure for his impact on the championship yet failure in the premiership? I always thought that, for around £3.5 - 4 million he represented good value for money personally but just interested in other peoples views.

Excellent player back then. Looking at him now he was just decent. Reason I say that is because it is only now we get to have the pleasure of watching WORLD CLASS players like Tevez, Yaya, Kompany etc.

-- Thu Oct 21, 2010 5:29 pm --

Excellent player back then. this is the american perspective... cringeworthy. I'm ashamed.

Remember our first game back in the Prem under KK? We played newcastle and Huckerby scored the only goal.
That night on ITV's highlights show, Andy Townsend described Huckerby as "an out of control speedboat"

Huckerby was Fantastic.

As a Player he had everything. Pace,Skill, Commitment, Drive, Finishing, loved the Club.

The only thing that stopped him being a World beater was that he could never quite manage to get all these attributes out in the correct order. Never seen a player who chose the wrong option so many times as Darren.

Really loved him though.
