Anyone have any tips on which one to buy? I have a budget of about fifty quid.
Thanks.

I play for the University team, (makes me sound better than I actually am, only played darts for a few months), and most of them go to Red Dragon, they swear by it, although I think it is a bit expensive myself.

Additionally could someone please put up an image of what a Manchester board looks like, just out of personal curiousity.

plus an interesting story about the Manchester dartboard from a few years back:

A DARTS league has been saved from extinction now a new manufacturer has taken on the task of making a board unique to Manchester.

Players in the South Manchester Darts League traditionally play with a log-end dart board. But the board was threatened with extinction after the main manufacturers Perrigo of Droylsden decided to end production. Now boards will be produced by a new father and son team in Denton.

League regular, 61-year-old Bernard Hand, secretary for the South Manchester Darts League, said: "The league has now been saved, it is looking very promising that we will be able to continue for a long time after thinking we wouldn't be able to play on the boards.

"It was only last week we had a meeting and said it was looking bleak, but now everyone is more than happy. The league starts again this week and we are looking forward to meeting the new manufacturers."

The log-end boards have been going for about 70 years, they are made out of wood, usually Elm, and are died black, with the wires hammered into the board. There is no treble and the numbering is different to other national or London boards. Boards have to be kept soaked in water when they are not being used otherwise the timber will dry up and crack. And has a playing area of no more than ten inches across.

The new manufacturers, father and son, David and Chris Mealey, have been making the boards on a smaller scale for some time but have now decided to produce them full-time in Denton.

It takes two hours to make just one board and they have already made a sufficient number to supply outlets and local leagues. They will now be the main supplier in Manchester for around 200 leagues, which have an estimated 10,000 log-end players.

David Mealey, 67, said: "I used to make five boards a year, I bought a little business and sold dominoes and log-ends, but it was not worth selling them as Perrigo's had 99pc of the market. After they closed people started asking us to make them, so we will now be going from selling five a year to about 500."

Chris, 32, who has given up his job to work on the boards full time, said: "I enjoy making the boards, I started off doing it as a hobby but the market has now opened up. It is great to see the boards when they are finished they look really good. We will now be supplying pubs and clubs in Manchester."

League secretaries can meet, Chris and David Mealey on Wednesday, October 29, at Mary Dee's Club on Grey Mare Lane, close to the city of Manchester Stadium, at 8.15pm. All league officials and sports retailers are invited.

Someone said it's nice to see plenty of dart players, I ws just saying I play for a team in the Stockport Super League.

Reddish Working Mens Club. We went up this season after finishing 2n in the Premier League last season.

Never thrown at this level before so proper buzzing! Played 3 games and we've won 2, lost 1 but I've not won any of mine yet. Gutted.
