Darts 2024

I only really watch the darts for the fans and the commentary. I've actually kept track of a number of the lines over the past couple of weeks.....

'Lateral drift' like it's windy

'area of the dartboard that's supposed to suit the southpaw down to the ground'

'navigate a forest a tungsten'

'reading the style of throw'

'missed the whole pie'

'Dobey's just emerged from a long lie down in a dark room after that gruelling match with Gerwyn Price'

'Like a greyhound flying out of the traps to make it to the first bend'

'Like trying to contain a bucking bronco with a ball of string'

They've just come out with another gem....

'This isn't like a sport where you can conserve energy and cruise Usain Bolt style, you have to push to the finish'. Amazing vocabulary for what's essentially a pub game and talking about their 'fitness regimes' whilst pretty much all of them being heavily overweight is rather amusing. Hopefully they all have plenty 'left in the tank' after all that standing about.
I take it your in agreement with the Olympics that darts not a sport. Despite the mental gymnastics they go through.

Definitely is a sport, unlike gymnastics, diving, equestrian, trampolining etc because, when it’s finished, everyone knows who’s won……

What is the chant the crowd keep singing? Sounds like “boring, boring arsenal”

Been doing my head in all tournament trying to work it out

Boring, boring tables.

It refers to the people sat at the tables in the middle of the floor - they're the "posh" seats so the people in the stands have a go at them for not singing and generally being stuck up (which isn't true).

The people at the table have a variety of comebacks based around the Stands being the cheap seats including "Feed the Stands, let them know its Xmas time" and "sit down in your plastic seats" and things like that.

It's a North Stand/Kippax situation

It does, of course fail the other ‘is it a sport test’ which is ‘can you play it in your slipper’?…..

I personally don't see it as a sport myself. I'm sure there's plenty of other 'disciplines' or 'sports' that are in the Olympics that are questionable so I wouldn't have any particular objection to it being in the Olympic 'Games'. Realistic chance of winning some medals too.

Go play darts for 3 hours then come back mate
