Great move for him given that Liverpool are likely going to be undergoing a major rebuild up front over the next couple of years, but..... pretty costly given as they will be really lucky to recoop close to that from selling Mane, Firmino and Salah combined

I don't understand Klopp: signs an extension, throws the cash around to rebuild the team and then, presumably, resigns because he's bought a player who's far too expensive for teamwork.

So Dippers broke British transfer records galore from Dalglish, Rush (most expensive teenager), Collymore and no doubt many others
You forgot one of our finest

Mark Kennedy joined Liverpool from Millwall in March 1995 for an initial £1.5 million fee (potentially rising to £2.3 m), making him then the most expensive teenage footballer in British history

I think he could be quite good for Liverpool honestly. Nothing breathtaking, but he's got enough of a goalscoring instinct to get good numbers in a team as strong as they are.

Although Liverpool usually only pay big money for players they think are going to be top class, so this seems unnecessarily expensive by their standards.
The problem with Liverpool is that they keep buying forwards/wingers. They have a decent defense, but their midfield is fairly lacking.

We are adding one of the world's most promising strikers to a team that has lacked a proper #9 for two years in reality considering Kun's injury woes.

They are losing one of their most important players in recent years, an established PL player that guarantees loads of goals.

I can't see why Nunez to them should worry us. Apart from possibly Mbappe, we have gotten the world's most exciting prospect.

From an outsider's point of view, it would look like the gap to Liverpool on paper has increased bearing the above-mentioned in mind.

They have the Coutinho transfer funds to fall back on.
