I'm at university in sheffield and currently on my third year placement. I found it really difficult to even get as far as an interview on most occasions in the UK with a lot of other people after the same thing so I decided to try searching abroad. Bit more complicated with a visa to sort out but I'm now working in Australia for a labour hire company called SKILLED Group. They took me on because I was on a business degree. I'm not sure they'd be able to help with events management but there are plenty of other options, particularly in Melbourne.
My biggest piece of advise though, if she was to take this route would be to not leave it until the last minute. I didn't get mine sorted until August and the occupational trainee visa takes 3 months to go through so I didn't get paid until christmas.
