What would be the repercussions if we didn't give £280 million to India?

Just a guess but I would have thought we would lose some of the £12billion in trade we do with them every year.

But trade is a two way thng that benefits both parties ??

Very true, guessing again I would imagine that we as a more developed country would get the better deal though. Not many developing countries come out on top in negotiations with large global economies like ours. Last time I checked India got a total of £1.6billion in Aid of which our contribution was £280m

Probably best to keep things sweet with the BRIC countries!

And instead of wiping out the dreadful poverty that many suffer in their country they are building rockets - great :|

UK Space Agency

Budget
£322.6 million (2013/2014)

As in India it will create a shed load of jobs and the industry's worth will exceed the initial funding.

Can I ask you your question again please (with a slight twist)? Who would you rather give a charitable donation to? A legal asylum seeker from Iraq who is homeless in the Uk, or an ex-pat who is homeless in India?

Would you have the same view if India didn't have a space programme and spent the money on needed infrastructure instead?

Not so much tall, more thin. So ThinOscar or SkinnyOscar would probably be more appropriate ;)

If I had £10 to give away I would honestly rather give it to an English person living in England who was suffering with drug addiction or alcoholism or obesity than an asylum seeker or someone who had taken themselves off to live abroad. I've recently had experience of how we treat our elderly in this country - disgusting and to think the funding isn't there because we have given so many millions away infuriates me. I also know someone who had to wait 6 months for counselling following a suicide attempt because of funding! It just seems wrong that we give so much to other countries when we have these problems at home

I can't quite understand a mind that can think like that (in the same way I am sure you can't imagine a mind that doesn't) So fair enough and thank you for answering honestly.

Seriously though why would you rather help people suffering in other countries rather than help, people suffering in your own?

Ahhh I see you can't be bothered to explain your opinion so you resort to childish insults - ok hilts I thought you wanted a serious discussion but I see you have reverted to type

Re: Dave targetting the obese and alcoholics on sickness ben

You're patriotic BBB. Your answer implies you care more for a being that was born in your country than you do for some other being who, completely by chance, sprang into life somewhere else, into real poverty or hell basically.

I know you're a good person with a good heart. People look at things differently that's all.
